Mabel cried as she cursed, partly out of fear and partly out of frustration with Maria. 

They had all agreed to expel Melody from the family so that even if Margaret died today, they wouldn’t be implicated. 

But Maria was being very stubborn. 

Despite Melody causing such a huge disaster, Maria was still protecting her, preferring to live with her rather than expelling Melody from the family entirely.
