Upon hearing Benjamin's words, Daryl felt how considerate and sensible he was, contrary to Zack's cold and ruthless demeanor.
She muttered, "Is Bennie really your son?"
"Of course he is."
Unexpectedly, Zack heard what she said and he stared at her because of it.
Summoning all of her courage, Daryl dared to look back at him and said, "He's your own flesh and blood, and yet you have no idea how to love him!"
Casting a sharp gaze at her, he said, "It's only right for my son to undergo rigorous training. You shouldn't spoil him all the time!"
"You!"
Daryl was almost driven insane. She felt like there was no way she could communicate with him properly.
"Mommy, don't argue with Daddy because of me."
Benjamin hugged her. "As long as I know that Mommy loves me, staying at the base for a week is not a problem."
When she heard his remark, Daryl wanted to commend the child for being so affectionate, but the man across her spoke first.
"Is that so? Then, why don't we make it a week?" A brief silence ensued in the car.
Staring at his father like an injured puppy, Benjamin said, "Daddy, I'm really sorry. Two days are enough."
Sadly, Zack didn't give in. "Didn't you just say that you can stay for a whole week?"
"No, Daddy. I was just exaggerating!"
Benjamin's woeful sobbing made Daryl's heart ache.
Holding the little boy in her arms, she said to Zack, "You have an awful temper! As a father, don't you think that you should set a good example for your child?"
Zack's eyes narrowed and his eyebrows creased as he responded, "Benjamin, do you think I have a bad temper?"
"No!"
Benjamin shook his head in denial. "Daddy actually has a good temper. Mommy, you must be mistaken."
Daryl was silenced by what she heard.
'He ruined his son!'
Ignoring him, Daryl continued to comfort Benjamin.
Soon, Benjamin was dropped off at school first, and only Daryl and Zack were left.
The two of them didn't utter a word to each other the entire time.
When they arrived at the film and television base, Daryl mustered up the courage to say, "Zack, I am Bennie's mother. I have the right to be concerned of how he grows up and how he's educated!" While she was speaking, her voice become less forceful. "Whether you like it or not, I will not stand to see you treat Bennie like that again!"
After she said those words, Daryl rushed out of the car and ran away like a rabbit being chased by a wolf.
As he stared at her receding figure, a smile appeared on Zack's face. She truly looked like a running rabbit.
Upon arrival at the gate of the film and television base, Daryl saw that Sofia and Ann had been waiting for her.
"Good morning, Daryl!" Ann greeted.
Catching her breath, Daryl replied, "Morning!"
Seeing how much she was panting, Sofia jested, "What's the matter with you? Were you being chased?
Who was chasing you?"
"Nobody."
