Nicole and Evan said nothing for a moment as they traded a glance.

Utter shock inundated them both.

“Did you say that Wilbur’s stepmother intended to spike your drink?”

“Yup. Fortunately, he had long since arranged for someone to keep tabs on her. Otherwise, I’d be the one who embarrassed myself today. If I had hugged Wilbur, kissing and mauling him, she would’ve certainly ordered someone to secretly snap some photos and sell them to the paparazzi.
