Chapter 93
“What?” I exclaimed, stunned, before cursing. “Is he out of his mind?”
“Ms. Hart, Mr. Mercer has indeed been acting irrationally lately,” Victor explained.

As he spoke, it became clear to me that everything–the wedding dresses, the rings–was all orchestrated by Logan. Victor had simply followed his orders.
“What is he trying to achieve? To disgust me?” I asked, my anger boiling over.

Victor hesitated before replying, “Elaine, I really don’t know what Mr. Mercer is thinking. But one thing is certain–he doesn’t want to lose you. He loves you.”
“Victor,” I said coldly, “it’s one thing for others to say that, but how can you of all people say it? Do you genuinely believe he loves me?”
Victor fell silent.
“If he wants to act crazy, let him. I’m not going to play along,” I said firmly.
“Ms. Hart, actually, I’ve been blaming myself. If it weren’t for me back then, you and Mr. Mercer wouldn’t have ended up like this,” Victor admitted, his guilt evident.
“Mr. Langston,” I replied, “I’m actually thankful to you. If it weren’t for that incident, I wouldn’t have had the clarity to end things with Logan.” I paused, my voice softening slightly. “But I didn’t break up with Logan just because of that incident. It had been a long time coming, and I’m sure you know that.”
Victor sighed deeply. “But I was the one who delivered the final blow.”
“I’ve already said everything I needed to say. If you still want to blame yourself, that’s your choice. But as for Logan, if he fires you because of this, then leave.
“With your skills, you’ll find a better job in no time,” I reassured him.
Victor hesitated before asking, “Ms. Hart, have you found a new job?”
“I believe I won’t have trouble finding one,” I replied vaguely, unwilling to fuel Logan’s madness by letting Victor know too much.
Logan was unstable now, and the last thing I wanted was for him to discover my plans.
After ending the call, I closed my eyes and let out a long breath. I couldn’t believe Logan had gone so far as to plan a public proposal. It was time to crush whatever lingering hope he had left.
As I sat there, my thoughts drifted to Ashton. Recalling our conversation from the night before, I gathered my courage and sent him a text:
“I’m sober now. When can we talk?”
There was no immediate response. It was 10:30 am, so he was probably at work and hadn’t seen the
message yet.
Without waiting for his reply, I got up and took a refreshing shower to clear my mind.
When I returned, I saw a message from Ashton:
“Meet me at the amusement park.”
“The amusement park again?” I muttered to myself.

Recalling Victor’s hint about Logan’s proposal, I quickly replied:
“No, let’s pick another place.”
“I’m short on time,” Ashton responded.
Thesitated, unsure whether to compromise, when another message came through:
“Are you worried about getting proposed to?”

My eyes widened. Ashton knew about it, too? How big of a scene had Logan planned at the amusement park?
