“Dr. Watson! A patient in the emergency room needs your help!”
When the man was about to say something, a nurse hurriedly ran over and interrupted him with a nervous shout. Riley nodded to him in a hurry and ran to the emergency room.
At the long corridor, the thin and tall figure was standing still. Looking at the woman who disappeared at the corner, his lips curled into a warm and pleasant smile.
Riley used her stethoscope to learn the patient’s condition. Her brows were tightly furrowed throughout the process.
Her slender fingers pressed the patient’s abdomen and she sensed the patient’s vital signs bit by bit, “Heart valve damage, the patient needs surgery immediately! Contact the surgeon!”
“Alright! Dr. Hamilton! This is…”
The patient was pushed into the operating room by the surgeon. Riley panted and slowly sat on the chair. She powerlessly put her hands beside her body and quietly zoned out.
If it was not due to the matter in the past, she could have become a surgeon and could have held a scalpel to save a patient from the brink of death.
Her eyes were tiredly closed. Pictures of her memory flashed in her mind wildly and apparently wanted to engulf all her thoughts and brain nerves like a flood and a beast.
Her hand was tightly clenched into fists. Her slender fingers seemingly wanted to embed her skin layer as the skin of her palm was pinched until that deep grooves were formed.
Due to excessive emotional agitation, perspiration started to form on her fair face. Riley felt that her heart was about to suffocate.
Trying hard to pull herself back from the whirlpool of her memory, Riley relaxed her palm and looked at the bruised marks on it due to her pinch.
A tingle of sorrow swept over her.
Fate?
Perhaps this was how fate was? It liked to pull one’s lag.
Riley went back to the office. Serena and Margot had just returned from the ward and there were smiles on their faces which showed that they were very excited. They were chatting about something.
After Riley sat down, Serena said with a gossipy smile, “Dr. Watson, your brain becomes puzzled after being busy for half a day, right? I’m infuriated by the patient until that my mind becomes puzzled so I have found myself a refreshing gossip to amuse myself.”
As Serena said, she held her phone in front of Riley, “How is it? Clear, right? Eye-catching, right? The paparazzi nowadays are really powerful as they can surprisingly hide outside others’ houses to take pictures. But frankly speaking, the George’s mansion is indeed luxurious! This is indeed the power of rich people as this house is indeed a castle! A royal castle!”
Riley inadvertently narrowed her eyes. On the screen, it was the George’s mansion. A house with such a luxurious outer appearance, top-notch design and ideal location could only be found there in the entire JD City.
And the next photo was showing that Euan and Lydia were talking happily and walking out of the villa arm in arm. Lydia who was in a long dress looked beautiful and elegant and even the usual heavy makeup had been changed to light makeup. Her obedient and lovely appearance was meant to target the status of being a daughter-in-law.
Of course, these did not really stimulate Riley. The one that made her felt that her heart was being pierced through was the third photo.
On the screen, Euan personally opened the car door. The black Bentley was parked at the entrance of the villa to wait for the two female owners.
Riley looked at the picture of the family which had a warm and close relationship in a dumbfounded state. A beautiful pregnant woman, an elegant mother-in-law, and a handsome male owner…
‘Lydia and Mrs. George have a close relationship. She is welcomed by the George family.’
This needle-like text and picture completely broke the last line of defence in Riley’s heart.
Euan had made up her mind to marry Lydia, right?
“Dr. Watson? What’s wrong with you, Dr. Watson?”
Seeing that Riley suddenly lost her mind, Serena hurriedly reached out and shook her hand in front of Riley’s eyes.
Riley regained her presence of mind and gave Serena the phone. She stood up shakily by holding the chair, “I’m going to the washroom.”
Margot and Serena looked at each other, “Is she too tired today? She has been called to go to the surgical ward early in the morning and has also dealt with the urgent case.”
Serena nodded, “Dr. Watson is our ace doctor, but an ace doctor also needs to rest and to be taken care of. I really hope that Dr. Watson can find a man who loves her.”
All these words were heard by Riley who was standing outside the office and had no strength to move her feet. Her two legs were stretched and she was leaning against the wall. Riley continuously took deep breaths several times before she felt better.
The time during the afternoon was relatively relaxed. Riley returned from the ward. Teddy handed her a cup of coffee, “You’re tired, right? Have some coffee to rejuvenate yourself.”
Riley nodded and thanked him but she put the coffee on the table without drinking it.
“Oh, Dr. Pearson, we’re also women but why don’t Dr. Lawson and I have this kind of treatment? We’re also tired. We also need coffee to rejuvenate ourselves!”
Teddy frowned, “You two? You two surprisingly still have the confidence to say you guys are women? When you guys went to see the new deputy director just now, you guys almost broke your necks, right? Have you guys seen the real person?”
The new deputy director? So, he had already arrived here?
Serena twitched her lips, “It’s okay if you don’t give us but you surprisingly even also satirize us! Dr. Pearson, be careful, if we’re able to find a boyfriend for Dr. Watson, you will definitely cry!”
Teddy looked askance at Riley and used the action of drinking coffee to hide the embarrassment on his face.
Riley’s lips silently curled. So, Teddy was actually having a special thought to her? If the people in the office knew that she had been married for three years and her husband was Euan whom they thought was a wealthy man, how would the situation be like?
