Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant novel Chapter 9

Riley was awakened from her deep sleep by a suddenly ringing cellphone.

She stretched out her arm in a daze to pick up the phone and suddenly she was wide awake.

She suddenly sat up on the bed, making the wound on her knee throbbed painfully. Her delicate face wrinkled in pain.

Riley’s drowsiness disappeared as she felt a stab of pain. She turned her head to find the space on the bed besides her empty. Euan was not besides her.

But then, he hated her so much, why would he sleep with her?

The panic that had just risen in her turned into a chilling disappointment.

Scratching her hair hard, Riley picked up the phone. The call was from the on-duty doctor in the department.

“Dr Watson, are you awake? The patient in bed no. 22 has arrhythmia. Come quickly.”

Bed no. 22’s patient had been in the hospital for more than two months. The patient suffered from severe coronary heart disease. Once combined with arrhythmia, there was a high chance of myocardial infarction. The patient’s condition was very dangerous!

“Give 5 ml lidocaine intravenously to calm the patient’s mood. After ten minutes if the situation doesn’t get better then give 5 ml lidocaine again. Remember, stabilize the patient’s mood and don’t let them feel nervous. I am coming over immediately.”

“Okay, I’ll prepare for it!”

Hanging up the phone, Riley wore her slippers ignoring the throbbing pain in her knee. She had just opened the bedroom door when her eyes fell down on Euan sleeping on the couch in the living room.

She felt a stab of pain somewhere in her chest.

She hopped down the stairs step by step, and quietly looked at Euan who was sleeping soundly. The sleeping Euan had lost all of his usual cold harshness. His eyebrows were spread smoothly, and his facial features all became soft. He looked extremely handsome.

“So handsome, but you just likes to keep his face looking like an iceberg.” Riley muttered, preparing to take her bag and leave. However, her eyes fell on her dress and she became silent.

It was really inappropriate to dress like this to go to the hospital.

She really had low IQ. If she had seen it early, then she’d have found different clothes upstairs and changed into them. Now, she had to climb up the stairs again.

She hopelessly jumped up the stairs again. Although she tried to control it, the banging sound woke up Euan. He frowned, looking at the figure of Riley hopping up the stairs like a rabbit. The warm light coming in through the French window illuminated her side and cast a shadow on the white wall on the other side.

Euan raised the corner of his mouth in a lazy smile.

With lightning speed, Riley randomly picked some clothes that had been put there three years ago. Unexpectedly, they still fit her well. She washed her face and brushed her teeth. Then she prepared to hop down the stairs again.

Just as she was about to take the first step down the stairs, she noticed Euan standing silently in the living room. Looking at her calmly as if he was enjoying an interesting drama.

Riley bit her lip, cursing at him in her heart.

Euan ignored her bouncing movements, instead he focused on her clothes. She was wearing a beige dress, which just covered her knees. It changed her look from the melancholy and calmness of the black clothes to bright and beautiful.

Moreover, he remembered that this was the dress that he bought for her back then.

Riley hopped down the stairs laboriously and landed on the ground. Euan stared at her with one hand in his pocket, examining her appearance slowly.

“Mr. George, please move aside.”

She had really lost her temper after a night’s sleep.

“Where to?”

“Hospital.”

Euan looked at her knees subconsciously.

“I am a doctor and I have patients to look after, so I need to go to work now.” She didn’t wait for his response and staggered his shoulder as she limped past him towards the main door.

Euan carefully pondered on her words about going to work, then he raised his eyebrows into two arcs and said, “You can’t get a taxi here.”

Riley stopped in the middle of putting on her shoes. Damn! Why did she forget this? If she wanted to take a taxi then she was going to have to walk a kilometer from here. Not to mention, people who lived here didn’t need to take taxis.

But how was she going to walk for a kilometer with her condition.

“Thank you for reminding me.” Riley put on a pair of flat shoes that had been idle for three years in the shoe cabinet, which was also the only pair of shoes. Then she got up and opened the door.

Euan’s fierce eyes were shooting flames, “Do you want to be crippled for life?”

The answer to his words was Riley’s back descending the steps.

This stupid woman! He thought.

Euan hurriedly chased her as she struggled to support the weight of her whole body on one leg and walked towards outside. Riley’s stubbornness was annoying!

“Riley! What the hell are you doing?”

Euan grabbed her by the arm. She looked back at him coldly and smiled particularly politely, “Euan, this is what I want to ask you. What the hell are you doing? My patient is waiting for me at the hospital, I must go!”

Riley had never been careless towards her patients.

Euan’s handsome face turned dark, “Get in the car! I’ll take you.”

What?!

Take her?

“Why are you in a daze? Just get in the car if you don’t want to have a medical accident. And don’t look at me with that expression.” Euan walked back to get the car keys and started the car.

Riley muttered broodily in her heart. That expression? Which expression?

Euan’s car stopped besides her, and he ordered her without giving her any option, “Get in!”

Okay, if he said get in then there was no need to waste a free driver. She thought.

When the car moved suddenly, Riley’s upper body almost crashed into the windshield.

“Euan!”

This was the last straw. She had already injured her knee; must she injure her forehead too?

Her anger was greeted with a touch of mockery from Euan whose eyes fell in front of her. She hadn’t fastened her seat belt.

“If you want to die, I can make that happen.”
