Stella frowned. She was about to say something more, but Baldwin turned and walked away. She wanted to follow him but was blocked by the security guards.
Dahlia said without holding back, “Get lost now! Don’t think you can do whatever you want here just because you’re a part of the Hall family!”
Stella stopped walking, turned around to glance at Dahlia, and left without saying anything.
Dahlia glowered at her receding back and cursed under her breath.
Aurora did not say anything. Instead, she looked at her own mother somewhat strangely and asked in a low voice,” Mom, did you really get a death certificate for Keegan?”
Dahlia paused and immediately got angry again, “Do you believe in her or me?” Aurora lowered her gaze and kept quiet.
She did not know if she should believe in Dahlia anymore. When Dahlia reduced the manpower earlier, the reason she gave Aurora was that Cordelia did not want to escalate the matter and affect the company.
But there was no proof that Keegan was dead. Plus, considering how much Cordelia loved him, Aurora figured it seemed strange for Cordelia to make that decision.
After not getting any response from Aurora, Dahlia softened her tone, “Of course, I hope that Keegan is safe. He’s my son, and I do care about him. But it’s been so many days, and the rescue team has said there’s no chance of him surviving. What else do you expect me to do? He’s gone, and you’re not married yet. I’ve got to plan for our future, after all.”
Dahlia played her trump card, worrying that Aurora would turn against her, “Don’t let Stella fool you. She doesn’t care about your brother as much as you think. Your brother went missing, yet she’s messing around with Marshall. How could we ever trust a fickle woman like her? She has bewitched both your brother and Marshall. You and Marshall would’ve been together long ago if it weren’t for her.”
Aurora was taken aback as she stared at Dahlia for some time without speaking.
Her feelings for Marshall had long faded. She did not know if Marshall was interested in Stella, but Stella was definitely not as Dahlia had described. She was sure Stella did not mess around with Marshall when Keegan was still missing.
Aldor had told her that the kidnapper jumped into the river and pulled Keegan with him. Without hesitating, Stella jumped in, too.
Stella was willing to risk her life for Keegan, so why would she throw herself into Marshall’s arms now?
Aurora suddenly remembered that Cordelia had wanted to raise her personally after her father’s death, but Dahlia opposed the idea. One day, Keegan brought her out to play. When they returned, Dahlia immediately gave her a cold shower.
