Having been in the circle for so many years, Vermont thought he had seen it all.

When the woman embraced him, he sensed trouble brewing.

Several accusations were thrown at him without him being able to defend himself.

His expression turned icy. Just as Vermont was about to address the situation, he noticed Felicity in the crowd, looking at the scene. He felt a tight knot in his chest.

‘Oh dear. Is she going to overthink this?’ Vermont was in a panic. He almost pushed through the people to provide an explanation when Felicity suddenly sank to the ground and burst into tears.

She then discreetly pinched her thigh to force out more tears.

Vermont glanced at him and kicked his knee hard.

Xander’s leg gave way, and he knelt on the ground.

Vermont stepped on his shoulder, bent over, and coldly said, “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. Look in the mirror before you try to play the hero.”

He kicked the man once more and carried Felicity away without looking back.

Felicity’s heart pounded, ‘Gosh. He’s so handsome when he’s being serious.’ As they passed by Elsa, Felicity heard her calling Vermont’s name, but the man did not stop. He went straight through the crowd and into the elevator.

Once inside, Felicity wanted to get off, but Vermont did not put her down. He held her in his arms and whispered, “Don’t make a scene. Think about the baby.”
