Felicity paused and immediately exclaimed, “Mr. Moore, you’re here.”

Stella tossed a bitten apple to Vermont, laid back on the bed, and instantly assumed a weak appearance.

Vermont was speechless. ‘What an actress,’ he thought.

He casually placed the apple back in the fruit tray, stood up, and said, “Marshall, you haven’t left yet.”

Marshall walked in and frowned at the sight of Stella looking sickly in bed. “I’m here to visit Stella. Why didn’t you guys take her to the hospital?”

“Lena insisted that it wasn’t a big deal. She just asked us to keep an eye on her,” Vermont replied.

Marshall stayed silent. He approached the bedside and asked, “How are you holding up, Stella? Let’s take you to the hospital.”

Stella shook her head. Mr. Moore, I’m fine. Lena said it was just a superficial injury. She told me to rest at home and keep the wound dry. If you’re that worried, I’ll get it checked tomorrow.” She paused, trying to make her lie more convincing. Then, she added, “Plus, Keegan’s due for a hospital visit tomorrow, so I’ll tag along. It’s late now.”

Marshall furrowed his brows. He looked at the bandaged wounds on her head and legs and asked, “You sure you’re okay?”

“You don’t trust Lena?” Stella joked.

Marshall pursed his lips. With a concerned look on his face, he said, “I just can’t figure out why Ms. Crosby would pull a stunt like that. Why would she hurt you and Aurora?”

‘That’s because—”

Felicity was all fired up and ready to speak when Vermont grabbed her butt.
