Just as the cashier took the card, a message popped up on the computer screen.

The cashier smiled and said, "The bill for table 12 has already been paid for."

She patted him on the chest and said, "Vermont is generous."

After they left the restaurant, Stella apologized to Marshall in a low voice.

Marshall smiled and said, "You weren't the one who shoved me, so you shouldn't be the one apologizing.Stella, you're just you now.You're not someone's appendage."

Stella was momentarily startled.
