Mr. Williams Wants His Ex-Wife Back novel Chapter 270

"Just for half a year, or even three months. Let's live peacefully for a while tp remind us of the fact that we were once a normal couple." Having gazed at Rebecca blankly for a few seconds, Adam pleaded in a low and hoarse voice.

Still ignoring him, Rebecca declined indifferently, "Sorry, but I can't."

"Rebecca..." Adam continued.

"My face feels sick. I want to ice it. Can you let go of me?" Rebecca interrupted again before he could finish.

"Who on earth did it?" Helpless, Adam returned to the original topic.

It wasn't until then that Rebecca looked at him. With a forced smile, she said, "Adam, if you stop making things difficult for Capen Group, I will be eternally grateful."

"As long as you leave Capen Group and Justin," Adam proposed.

"Huh," Rebecca chuckled. "Forget it. I'll get the ice pack."

Then she shook off Adam's hand and went straight to the fridge.

Rebecca couldn't be hysterical toward Adam. Even if they would divorce, she didn't want to make an enemy of him. After all, it was much better to have one more friend than one more enemy in this world. Moreover, the Williams family was powerful. Completely breaking up with Adam and cutting off her own future career was the last thing she'd do.

Looking at Rebecca, Adam's eyes dimmed, but he managed to calm down and followed her. He reached out and said, "Let me help you."

Grudging friendliness, Rebecca avoided his hand and refused tonelessly, "No, thanks. Go ahead with your work."

After that, she took the ice pack, turned around, went to the bedroom, and closed the door.

Adam stood still and didn't cover his eyes with hands until Rebecca closed the door and disappeared from his sight.

Some noise has broken the silence.

In the room, Rebecca was busy preparing her thesis while applying the ice bag to her face. However, more than half an hour later, Justin sent her a video invitation to discuss several business matters. Rebecca rejected and shifted it to a voice call.

Halfway through their discussion, there was a knock on the door.

"Is there anyone in your apartment?" Justin heard the loud knock and changed the subject.

"You said it," Rebecca agreed. It was unnecessary to hide Adam's existence from Justin, she went honest, "It's Adam."

"Why's he at your place?" Obviously, Justin got surprised.

The door-knocking sound continued.

Rebecca didn't answer, but the knock on the door happened again.

"Wait a minute," Rebecca said and stood up to open the door.

Actually, the door was unlocked.
