Chapter 881 Thieves who take advantage of the fire

Acar slowly stopped outside the gate of the villa. Nina thought it was Harley, who always had come back to get his wallet or his phone, and stopped to look.

The electronic gate opened automatically and a limited edition black Bentley drove in. Nina was a little puzzled by the entrance of this unfamiliar car and was even more annoyed at Mrs. Otis for opening the gates and letting the stranger drive in. She squinted her eyes towards the gate, but much to her surprise, the two servants were nowhere to be found. Not knowing what else to do, she pushed the baby stroller behind her in an attempt to hide True Paul.

Just as she was thinking of an alternative escape plan, the black Bentley rolled to a stop in the middle of the courtyard. Almost immediately, the male driver, dressed up in a suit and a pair of white gloves, jumped out of the car. He marched down to the back of the car and opened the door, bowing in respect.

After some seconds, the owner of the car, a woman, stepped out of the car gracefully. She wore an expensive-looking satin dress with exquisite colour and texture, and the pearl necklace which rested on her chest gave an added touch of elegance to her already sophisticated look. Nina immediately recognised her. The woman was Carlee!

Nina was stunned. Although she knew that Carlee would come back from her hometown sooner or later, she never thought it would be this soon. She would have asked that Harley be the one to welcome her back but he had gone out to buy milk powder, and it was too late to call him back.

Carlee stood by the car, staring at Nina while motioning for the driver to open the door on the other side.

The driver obeyed her orders, opened the door slowly, and stretched out his hand to help the person sitting in the backseat.

Nina also recognized the second person to be Sylvia at first glance. It was quite a while since she had set eyes on Sylvia and Nina could notice changes like the more flesh she seemed to be adding on. No matter how loose-fitting her clothes were, they couldn't cover her slightly bulging belly.

Nina was extremely embarrassed standing in front of the villa and the stroller suddenly seemed hot in her hands. The scorching sun above her head seemed to be hotter than before. She was so nervous.

If things were normal, as Harley's fiancee, she would have walked up and said hello to Carlee. But Nina knew things were not normal. Getting any close to Carlee or Sylvia was sure not to do her any good so she simply stood her place and did not move.

Carlee and Sylvia let their eyes wander around the compound walking towards the villa, while the driver got into the car and drove away to park it. Looking at the two of them talking to each other in a low voice, Nina subconsciously protected her daughter by holding the armrest of the stroller firmly with both hands.

"Nina?" Carlee called. Her face was a mixture of anger and surprise.

Sylvia remained quiet and studied Carlee’s countenance. Her voice seemed calm but there was a smug look in her eyes.

"Mrs. Timothy, it seems that Nina has moved into our compound,” Sylvia uttered in mock surprise.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here with you," Carlee said, sensing that Sylvia was beginning to be timid. "Just follow me. Don't get angry over this cunning woman. it's not worth it if you hurt the child.”

Sylvia nodded and smiled. This is also the reason why she contacted Carlee a month later, and said on the phone that she had recently gained weight and had gotten pregnant for her son. Truth be told, Sylvia's belly was fake. In fact, she had been deliberately eating more, but this was unknown to Carlee.

“Hello Mrs. Timothy, you are back,” Nina greeted courteously. As for Sylvia, Nina paid her no heed.

Carlee looked at Nina and sneered sarcastically: “If I hadn't lived in this house for more than 20 years, I would have thought I had entered the wrong door."
