Sammy patted on her back gently, "Miss Pretty, please don't blame daddy for this. It's all my fault. Daddy made me stay outside the restroom. But I was so eager to see you earlier! Daddy couldn't find me when he came out. So he went mad."
Verena was stunned and took a glimpse of that man. Then she apologized, "Sorry, I didn't know that…"
"It's okay."
Then he suddenly interrupted and sat down on the sofa. He beckoned her to take a seat opposite him, "Now let's talk about the auction."
Verena looked pale when hearing that.
Sammy, who clung to her in her arms, also noticed that. Then he asked, "Miss, what's the matter with me?"
"Sammy, time for dinner!" the man said seriously.
"Okay! But daddy, don't get her out! She needs to be my mommy!"
After saying a lot to his father, Sammy then left, looking reluctant.
Then only two of them were left in the room.
As Verena was still feeling agitated, the man said, "Miss Moore, let's get into the topic straight! You should know that I bid the final price, right?"
"Yes!" Verena forced out a word to answer.
"I know why you attend the auction…" Then he continued, "I also know what you need. So we can conclude an agreement now."
Verena looked up at him, looking calm, "So what's your purpose?"
Since he had investigated about her, he should know that she attended the auction because of her father. Of course, she needed more money. But she had no idea what his purpose was.
"Miss Moore, you are smart. And I like to talk to the smart. My purpose is simple. I will pay off the cost of your father in the hospital. And you need to be Sammy's stepmother."
When hearing that, Verena frowned, "Stepmother?"
"Yes, Sammy's mom passed away as soon as he was born. So he has been eager to have a mom. And I need to fulfill his wish. So, Miss Moore, what do you think?"
"You can choose anyone of those ladies to be his stepmother. But why me?"
She could tell that this man must be one of those in the upper class. After all, he could just simply spend eight million on her. Of course he could choose whoever he wanted. So she wanted to know why he attended this auction.
"Because he likes you. He said you smelt like his mom."
The answer sounded quite simple. But Verena was still startled.
"So, Miss Moore, will you agree?" the man looked at her.
Agree? Or not?
Verena clenched her fists hard. Though this man looked dignified and energetic with his statuesque body, he was still as old as her father.
Verena gritted her teeth and still nodded.
She had no room to make a choice on her own at the beginning.
Actually, she had been ready to be someone's mistress in advance. But fortunately, it seemed that her identity this time was less shameful than expected. At least she could accept it.
At this moment, footsteps sounded. Then a middle-aged man in black suit came over, "Mr. Wilson, Mr. Lemuel has been back to the mansion."
The man named Wilson frowned, "When?"
"An hour ago, Walker told me that Mr. Lemuel is now having dinner with Mr. Cole."
"Let's get back to the mansion." Wilson stood up and then the middle-aged man handed him a cane, "Mr. Wilson, we have Mr. Sammy in the car now."
