Chapter 102 It's My Fault
Natalie stopped getting food with her fork.
She turned her face and swallowed the food in her mouth, denying it. "No, I don't eat a lot."
Kendrick smiled with affectionate eyes. "So it's my fault."
The orchids in the greenhouse were tended by him carefully. They burst into life and bloomed one after another.
However, Natalie was getting thinner.
Natalie nodded quickly and complained, "You only care about the orchids, which are more fragile than me."
What she said was ungrateful distortion. Kendrick stretched out his hand and pinched her ear, saying, "You have to shell the eggs and pick the fish bone by yourself from now on. Don't ask me to analyze the stock market..."
"I'm sorry. It's my fault." Natalie instantly looked pitiful and quietly pulled her ear away from his hand. "I didn't rest well. I'll go out with Maggie this weekend. What's your plan?"
"I'll go to West Goldburg and handle some affairs on Saturday." Kendrick withdrew his hand and said, "Call me if you need my help."
...
On Friday, Kendrick went to the nerve treatment center for a follow-up visit.
He was blindfolded for acupuncture as usual.
His legs regained more consciousness evidently.
The instrument showed that his neural and muscular tissues quivered to different degrees.
Natalie stifled her excitement and collected herself to focus on the acupuncture.
In the middle of the treatment, Kendrick's phone rang.
Natalie raised her eyes and motioned for Owen to fetch the phone.
However, Kendrick asked her to pick up the phone.
Natalie was surprised.
She didn't know what to do.
Owen came to her rescue and said, "Mr. Ramsey, I'll pause the acupuncture and apply medicine to you."
Natalie hastily picked up the phone on the side.
She heard a deep low male voice from the other end of the line.
"He has taken action. Please..."
Natalie said, "I'm sorry, but Mr. Kendrick is not available for the moment."
The man fell silent.
After a while, he said sorry and hung up.
His number was not on Kendrick's contact list.
Natalie told Kendrick the phone number. "I didn't quite get what he said. You call him back later."
Kendrick was unruffled and said lightly, "Okay."
After the acupuncture, Owen gave Kendrick an injection of nerve growth medicine.
At these moments, Natalie couldn't bring herself to look at Kendrick.
No consolation could alleviate his pain.
Owen saw her face turn pale. He went out of the ward and said to her, "Things are getting steady. We can advance the surgery to next month and try to finish it by March next year."
Natalie said, "Okay." She took out the thick stack of documents. "I translated half of it, and you have to do the rest."
Owen took the thick stack of paper and thought for a while before saying with concern, "You look haggard. You should take a good rest so that you can have sufficient energy and willpower to look after him."
Natalie nodded. "Thank you for your concern."
Owen flipped through the documents and said, "As for the medicine to be used after the surgery, we need to decide on the recuperation plan."
Natalie knew there were many medicines to be invented or on research in this world.
She said, "Okay, I'll work on it."
Owen put away the documents and saw Natalie staring at the phone frame on his desk.
He pointed to the photo and explained, "It's my mother. The photo was taken at Faymany University twenty years ago. I was only six at that time."
The photo taken twenty years ago was blurry, and Natalie couldn't see his mother's face clearly.
However, she could feel the elegant intelligence of Owen's mother.
Natalie sighed inwardly.
She was an orphan in both worlds.
In the end, she praised, "Your mother is beautiful and elegant."
Owen smiled gently and said with admiration, "She's a genius, much better than me."
He soon stopped smiling and said worriedly, "I can't cover you timely in every treatment. Mr. Ramsey will notice it over time."
Natalie pressed her lips. "I'll stop the acupuncture after two treatments, and he'll have low-frequency impulse current therapy."
Owen said, "You will have to make the preparation for the surgery."
