Chapter 565 Calling the Police
But what she didn't expect was that something even creepier was waiting for her.
The next morning, a delivery guy called her, but she did not open the door directly. Because she did not order any deliveries, she just let the delivery man room stay outside the door.
Through the peephole, she made sure the delivery person left by elevator. And then a few minutes later, she then opened the door.
A tightly wrapped takeaway was placed on the floor and she just stared at it for a while before leaning over to open it.
When she opened it and saw what was inside, she almost threw up on the spot.
It was a foul-smelling portion of poultry offal, all corroded and smelly and disgusting.
Her eyes widened, her face pale to bloodless. She held her breath and immediately closed the door.
Camille breathed heavily and her heart jumped extremely fast when her cell phone, which was placed on the dining table, rang at that moment.
She snapped back to her senses, then walked to pick up her phone.
It's an unfamiliar number with no ID.
She tapped down to answer and remained quiet.
A faint man's voice came to my ear: "Mrs. Simpson, did you get the stuff?"
Camille froze momentarily. She pursed her lips, pressed the recording without moving, and asked expressionlessly, "Are you using the delivery boy to deliver these disgusting things to threaten me into promising your wife Cora an apology?"
Austin just laughed, but replied, "I don't know what you're talking about."
Camille said with a cold face, "If you don't know, why are you making this call to me again?"
"I'm just calling to ask you if you received your stuff. Satisfied with that? Don't worry, this is just the beginning. There will be more amazing gifts for you next!" Austin laughed meaningfully, and his words were implying something.
And then, without waiting for Camille to respond, he simply cut the call off.
Camille stood dumbfounded and motionless, and the hand holding the phone was subconsciously tightened in strength.
She saved the recording, and after entering the numbers to dial out, she said, "I want to somethign to report."
Camille called the police to deal with the matter, but because did not identify himself in the recording Austin , nor did he admit that he did it or said anything related to the incident, the police could only think that there was not enough evidence to file a case.
But the police still accompanied Camille to the property management staff. They immediately checked the surveillance camera and saw a man wearing takeout clothes leaving things at Camille's door. However, the identity of the man could not be determined due to what he was wearing and his disguise.
The final advice from the police was: "After the property management company helps you to get substantial evidence and then you can file a case for investigation."
The property management company was of course cooperative. They immediately informed the security guards at the gate not to allow delivery men to enter and exit temporarily, until the investigation was completed. They also immediately informed everyone in the tenants groups.
Camille was handleing this matter for the whole morning and she came out of the property management office near lunchtime.
But she did not feel any hunger. And because she saw something so disgusting in the morning, she still felt sick in her stomach, as long as she thought of the revolting scene.
When Camille returned home, the things at the door had been disposed of by the cleaning lady. But maybe it was a psychological effect, she could feel the smell of blood reverberating through the air.
Once inside, she hurriedly sprayed disinfectant and then gave herself a shower, which made her feel better.
Camille made a cup of coffee and sat down on the couch in the living room. She had just turned on her computer to look at the drawings when Horace's phone call came in.
Horace made it clear that he had heard the news from the property and then had his assistant found out about it and knew that Camille was involved, so he took the initiative to call.
He asked, "Is there anything that I can do for you, Miss Armstrong?"
Faced with Horace's initiative, Camille also just lightly said, "No, thank you Master Burris for your kindness."
Camille didn't want to have too much contact and interaction with Horace, so naturally she just refused to do so.
Horace also saw through her mind.
He directly got to the point: "It's normal for Miss Armstrong to have concerns, but there's no need to be psychologically burdened. I'm just being a partner as well as a neighbor in this project of Triumph."
Camille frowned slightly and also responded immediately, "I understand what Master Burris means. I will tell you if I need your help, but thank you very much Master Burris for being willing to help."
Horace didn't force it either. Since she did not want it, it would be true that he had come with a purpose if he continued to force it
However, he had specifically found out that Camille lived alone on Maple Leaves MansionHorace, but contacts with her for several timesmade him realize that Camille and Ayan did live seperately.
This doesn't seem to fit the lifestyle of a normal couple getting along in a relationship.
This doubt arose in Horace's heart, and he immediately stopped it in the next second. He told himself that it was someone else's business and had nothing to do with him.
Around 3:00 p. m., Camille was already having her second cup of coffee.
She's just had another chat with Dan about the end of the second phase of the draft, and then she made the final changes before sending it to the Simpson Group for implementation.
She worked hard and those disturbing things were left behind for the time being, but such a harmonious atmosphere did not last long before the knock on the door spoiled it again.
Hearing a knock on the door, her hand that was tapping on the keyboard instantly paused, and her face was gloomy and heavy.
She grabbed her cell phone and called the property management as she approached the door with her bare feet.
She looked out through the cat's eye, but couldn't see anything, it was dark and obviously blocked.
This makes Camille even more certain that the people outside must have been brought in by Austin.
The property management got on the phone. While checking the surveillance, they reassured Camille not to be afraid, they would immediately arrange for security guards to come.
But after checking the surveillance, the property's response was, "Miss Armstrong, that's a woman standing at your door."
"A woman?" Camille said in soft surprise.
The property side reconfirmed that it was indeed a woman, and then proceeded to investigate the way the woman entered the neighborhood.
Before she could wait for a reply, Camille heard the sound of a key being inserted into the keyhole to open the door, and then the door was opened from the outside in the next moment.
