Chapter 179 

Marc felt his brain buzzing as if it were about to explode. A sharp pain struck him, and he plunged into darkness. 

He clung tightly to Pearl, not regaining his senses. 

Mason was right next to Marc when the pebble struck the back of his head, almost creating a dent. His heart raced, and he shouted angrily. “Do you want to take a life? Do you all want to spend the rest of your lives in jail?” 

So what if there was no end to it? 

With his words falling, as the crowd hesitated, the police sirens began to wail, and someone in the crowd shouted, “Run, the police are here!” 

The people scattered in all directions like startled birds and animals. Some of them were cornered and arrested by bodyguards and the police. They were handcuffed. 

The scene was chaotic 

Pearl felt uncomfortable being held by Marc. She gently broke free from Marc’s embrace. When she turned around, he met Marc’s deep, somewhat bewildered eyes as if he were still easing the pain and shook his head. 

“You Pearl’s lips tightened. “Are you okay?” 

Marc regained his composure and calmly said, “I’m fine.” 

He followed up with another question, “And you? Are you hurt?” 

Pearl was not accustomed to this kind of care and concern. She shook her head, turned away, and lowered her gaze to the stone on the ground, her eyes darkening. 

Were these fans irrational or just immature? 

They needed to be taught a lesson. 

After going to the police station to file a report, Pearl decided not to publicize the matter. After all, these individuals claimed. to be fans of Peter. Exposing them would not benefit Peter, and he would likely have to bear the consequences of their actions. 

The police gave them a thorough lecture. 

Connor was covered in egg and tomato juice. He went into the police station’s bathroom, quickly washed up, and changed into a clean set of clothes in his backpack. He walked out of the bathroom, looking refreshed. “Pearl” 

Mare stood by the door, a cigarette in his mouth, listening indifferently to Thomas. He turned his head slightly and noticed a tall young man standing before Pearl, stniling brightly at her. 

Pearl’s face unexpectedly showed a soft expression, and she even raised her hand to wipe Connor’s forehead. This intimate gesture made his eyes grow cold. “Where did this brother come from?” He thought 

Pearl raised her hand to help Connor wipe away the red patch on his forehead. It looked like blood, but when she wiped it, she realized it was tomato juice and breathed a sigh of relief. 

“In the future, don’t be so reckless. How could you get out of the car in such a dangerous situation? What if they had thrown stones at you? Pearl said with a stern expression, clearly a bit angry. 

Connor nodded obediently, not daring to argue. “I understand, Pearl” 

He was not afraid of getting hurt himself, but he could not bear the thought of Pearl being endangered because of him. When “he saw that the pebble had almost hit Pearl and he was helpless in the car, the feeling was so chaotic that it felt like his heart 

had skipped a beat for a few seconds.. 

Thankfully, someone had helped shield her. 

Connor turned his head and noticed Marc standing at the door. He walked over to him with long strides and stopped before

him, bowing 

“Thank you, sir, for blocking that for my sister,” Connor said. 

Marc gazed at the young man as he bent in front of him. His deep eyes held a hidden intensity, and he kept a cigarette between his long, slender fingers. He exhaled white smoke, his voice cool. 

“Sister? What kind of brother are you to my ex–wife?” 

Connor, who had bent down, froze briefly and then slowly straightened up. 

His clear deer–like eyes stared directly at Marc. 

Ex–wife. 

Connor’s eyes subtly flickered. No wonder this person looked so familiar. He must be the annoying ex–husband who had stolen his master’s clothes on Pearl’s birthday and snuck into the restaurant to give her a birthday gift

Connor did not respond but said, “You’re my ex–brother–in–law,” 

Marc was left dumbfounded. 

“Who are you addressing as brother–in–law? Marc responded. 

Pearl walked over at the right moment and patted Connor on the back. “I don’t know him” 

Then she turned to Marc and said, “I’m sorry, this kid can be a 

a bit too close for comfort.” 

Her gaze remained composed as she continued, “Mr. Males, you helped me just now. Do you need to go to the hospital to get checked? We wouldn’t want any lingering injuries.” 

Kid? 

“Kid?” Marc could not help but find the term armusing for someone who was an adult. 

Marc looked at Pearl’s calm and emotionless eyes and compared them to her affectionate attitude toward the teenage boy who had appeared out of nowhere. He felt a lump in his throat and lowered his gaze. “It’s fine, just a minor injury.” 

There was a moment of silence. 

Thomas walked over, breaking the subtle awkwardness. “Mr. Males, we should leave. We’ll be late if we don’t 

Mason also reminded, “Ms. Woolery, it’s time for us to go.” 

Marc took a puff of his cigarette and coughed lightly

Thomas immediately caught on and offered a friendly smile to Pearl. “Ms. Woolery, your car has been towed to the dealer, and it might take some time to repair. Why don’t you ride in our car? It’s on the way.” 

Pearl remained silent.

a professional smile, Mason said, “Thank you for your kind offer, Mr. Males and Mr. Pearson, but our car has just arrived” 

Thomas followed Mason’s gaze and was taken aback to see the robust, armored, bulletproof SUV parked at the police station’s entrance. His mouth twitched at the thought that this might be a bit excessive. 

Marc gazed at the car with a faint flicker in his eyes, his emotions unreadable. 

Mason did not think it was excessive at all. In fact, he regretted not having borrowed such a vehicle sooner. He thought that even the toughest objects, let alone eggs, tomatoes, or pebbles, could not break through this car’s armor.
