Chapter 182
It was rare for him to be a driver, and Lucas wanted to go out of his way to help, but Pearl did not give him the chance.
As soon as they got off the highway and entered the city. Pearl’s people were waiting by the roadside.
Pearl got out of the car and walked away without looking back.
Lucas shouted from behind her, “Hey, you’re leaving just like that?”
Pearl, with phone in hand, turned around to look at him impatiently. “What do you want?”
“Oh, nothing big. We’ve helped you so much. It’s okay to ask you to treat us to a meal, right? Isn’t that right, Marc?” Lucas looked for an ally.
Marc was unexpectedly cooperative. “Well, it’s not impossible.”
These two people were each more opportunistic than the other.
Pearl looked up lazily and said with minced words, “Seeking repayment for kindness, is not a gentleman’s way.”
Lucas was stunned by her words and immediately retorted, “To not repay kindness is even more of a little… girl’s behavior!”
When he saw Pearl’s expression, he very wisely changed the word “little miser” to “little girl“.
Pearl stopped bickering with him. “Then let’s do it tonight. 7.30 p.m. Food Delight Diner. I’ll be the host
Lucas had succeeded. He grinned. That’s more like it”
Pearl got into her car, the middle of three cars in a procession. The front and back cars were all bodyguards in black. It was an extraordinarily ostentatious scene.
Lucas clicked his tongue and said to Marc, who was still sitting in the back seat, “Come to the front passenger seat. Am I your driver or something?”
Marc said coldly, “I saw that you’re quite happy as a driver.”
“That’s for Pearl, not you
Marc did not reply and simply gave him a cold look. Oh, this dog with double standards.
At the thought that he would be able to eat Pearl’s cooking tonight, Lucas was in a wonderful mood. He drove the car and hummed along with the car’s speakers. With a tone similar to casual chatting, he probed for information. “How’s the progress on this trip to Wenstin?”
Marc leaned back in his chair and smoked a cigarette. He looked crestfallen, like a robot that had lost its battery. “Oh, you
know, it’s so so.”
“Looks like progress is slow.”
Lucas raised the corners of his lips and, without any psychological burden, shared his own thoughts with Marc.
“As for me, I originally planned to go to Wenstin too, but when I heard that you are going, I thought. I’ll pass. Every time you appeared, Pearl would not be in a good mood. Why should I provoke her, and get myself into trouble? That would not be
worth it.
The tilted his head to look at Marc and said, “But you have to be careful. There are more and more love rivals now. Other than me, Pearl now has little Donald by her side. That lad is younger than us.”
Mare did not know what to say to that.
“He uses his wits in a scheming way”
Again, Marc was silent.
He had originally wanted to treat Lucas’s words as mere hot air, but this fellow was just too noisy. Marc blew out a mouthful of

smoke. “Well, you’re quite lacking in wit.”
This time, Lucas was dumbfounded.
End of friendship!
As soon as she got into her car, Pearl received a call from Henry.
She immediately picked up the call. “Henry
“Pearl, are you out of the airport?”
Henry’s voice was indescribably warm and gentle.
“Yeah”
When Pearl saw the current trending topic, she knew that he must have deliberately shown up to divert the public’s attention. Otherwise, how could there be such a coincidence? She hesitated and said, “You and Donna..”
Henry smiled gently on the other end of the phone. “Next time we meet, she’ll be your sister–in–law
Upon hearing this, Pearl’s furrowed brows relaxed, and a smile appeared on her face. “Congratulations, your patience is finally
rewarded.”
“Same to you.
Henry laughed and said, “Originally, I hadn’t planned to make it public so early. Then I thought, there’s no time like the present. Although I know you have your own plans for Peter, I can’t stand others scolding my sister like this
When Pearl heard this, her heart warmed, but then she felt bittersweet.
“Sorry for the trouble.”
After she said this, Donna’s voice came from the other end. “It’s no trouble. The fan circle is in such a foul state now, but it will
pass
soon. Don’t take it to heart.”
Pearl nodded and said. “Thank you, Third Sister–in–law.”
There was silence for a moment,
Then, Henry chuckled. “Alright, you’ve made my girlfriend blush by calling her Third Sister–in–law
After they exchanged a few more jokes, he hung up.
The fans and reporters had rushed to the airport in a grandiose manner, but they had not found what they were looking for. Just as they were feeling resentful, they found that Peter Smith had made a Facebook post
He first explained the situation of his leg injury, so that his family and fans did not have to worry. Then, he explained the issue of the role in detail, saying that he had not received any notice from the film crew to change role, and that the sponsor and director of “Moonlight Over The Sea” had no intention of replacing him.
The film crew had also taken the situation of his leg injury into consideration, and so they made use of a backup plan. Everyone would compete fairly for the role. As for who would be chosen in the end, it would all depend on the director and the film crew’s arrangements.
Finally, on behalf of his fans, he solemnly apologized to his boss who had been hurt. In a stern yet amiable tone, he advised. his fans to be rational in pursuing celebrities. They should not be wantonly condescending on the Internet, let alone do anything illegal..
“Don’t let your liking for me become a weapon to attack others. Love & Peace. I hope we can all hold on to these principles.”
Originally, his words had been sharper. When he had received a call from his younger brother, and heard that his fans had attacked Pearl on the way and at the airport, surrounding her and scolding her. Peter had become angry and anxious. His entire body had been trembling as he typed a bunch of words. In the end, his manager, Vera, had pruned out parts of the text and barely kept the emotion it conveyed in check.
