Chapter 2061 Complicated Mystery
Byron was really worried. His wife's mood swings in the past few days had been erratic. She was so angry that she collapsed, recovered after the collapse, then immediately collapsed again. He was worried that this repeated cycle would take a toll on her body.
While his wife waited for the news at home, he went to the police station in person to urge progress.
Fortunately, the arrest warrant was officially issued. Four police officers went to the suburban villa and soon brought Violet back to the police station.
At present, Violet could only be called a suspect. She was ordered to cooperate with the investigation.
She could only be detained for only 24 hours.
At the police station, there was a lack of fear on Violet’s face. She had a smug sneer when she only saw Byron but not Rosalie.
"You can’t place any charges on me without any evidence. It’s pointless no matter how you investigate."
Violet was so blatantly arrogant that even the police officers were a little irritated. They brought her into the interrogation room with a stern expression.
Byron was waiting at the door. Detective Carter came out looking solemn, shaking his head slightly.
"According to the detailed affirmative forensic report from the medical officer, Ms. Jacobs’ mother's illness lasted for three years. In other words, she was forcefully exposed to mercury way before. A year after Mrs. Jacobs had her first health symptoms, Violet forced Gordon to divorce Mrs. Jacobs and marry her. If we speculate from the time of death, that was a full year between the two incidents’"
Byron had a solemn expression following that statement. His brows furrowed as he began to think.
After a few seconds, he asked, "Perhaps Violet targeted my mother-in-law from the very beginning and secretly poisoned her behind the scenes?"
Detective Carter shook his head and denied it. "Ms. Jacobs mentioned her mother's normal life trajectory yesterday. She was always at home with her husband and child. It was impossible for her to be wary of any woman. I’ve been wondering whether Gordon conspired with Violet to do this. On second thought, if Gordon was truly guilty, there was probably no reason for him to hide things till his death.
