Chapter 1211 The Culprit
He immediately called Sabrina and others to restore the surveillance data.
For the technicians at Section Six, recovering data was a piece of cake.
Even after the data was recovered, no suspicious individuals were found entering or leaving the workroom.
“You guys go ahead,” Spencer said to Sabrina, “I'll look into the rest.”
They had already identified their target. It was just that... they don't have any evidence yet.
“Pull up all the surveillance from around their house,” Spencer instructed his subordinates. “I refuse to believe that we can't find any evidence.”
“We also can't overlook the surveillance camera near the hotel entrance,” Spencer added after a moment of thought.
By the time evening came the next day, a compelling piece of evidence was finally found.
It was a video that was uploaded by a guest onto his own social media platform.
The guest introduced the hotel they were staying at, describing what it was like. Coincidentally, this guest was a travel blogger who loved to capture every place they visited.
In the video she was filming, a man's figure happened to pass by her at the corner, and she captured it on camera.
Not only that, after brushing past him, they also captured footage of this man using a spare room card to open the workroom.
This blogger was clueless, so she continued to film videos, while... that man, whether due to nervousness or something else, didn't bother to engage with the travel blogger and swiftly entered the room.
And everyone could see clearly, the man was none other than Sloan's secretary! He was also his brother-in-law, Yosef.
Yosef had always been Sloan's nominal secretary, drawing a salary for a job he didn't really do. It was a cushy position indeed.
Sloan found that the young man was an incompetent bungler, so he rarely took him along to work. Yosef, on the other hand, was a lazy bum who never missed an opportunity to cause trouble instead of doing anything useful.
This time, Sloan assumed that Yosef would certainly be a new face, as the people from Section Six had never seen him before.
Sloan didn't trust anyone else to handle the situation. After all, Yosef was his brother-in-law. No matter what happened, he believed that Yosef wouldn't betray him.
He probably couldn't even imagine in his wildest dreams that the people from Section Six had already met Yosef, and had given him a good beating.
“Why is it him?” Spencer's face slightly hardened.
Why is this person trying to harm Section Six? Is it because of Yuri?
At this moment, Spencer was still unaware that Yosef was acting under the orders of Sloan.
...
Inside Herald's office.
He radiated a sense of urgency from every part of his being, his handsome face unable to hide his restlessness.
Leroy stood before him, head bowed, not daring to utter a word.
I was managing just fine, yet you all insist on snatching it from my hands.
Well, now I've offended someone and there's no way to fix the situation.
The advent of new energy is imminent.
So many small countries are willing to cooperate with Section Six, buying their new energy system. But you guys have managed to thoroughly offend them.
Have you been kicked in the head?
But he didn't dare to say or do anything. After all, he was a small fry and his words carried little to no weight.
“What do we do now? How's the investigation going? Have we found any leads?”
Herald's eyebrows and eyes looked all serious. “Could it really be one of our own who did this? Who could be so foolish?”
Sloan noticed that the office door was open. As he reached the entrance and was about to step in, he heard Herald's words.
His face stiffened. There was a hint of discomfort flickering in his eyes.
“Mr. Cook, please don't get angry. It's clear that Section Six is trying to slander us.”
“What do you know?” Herald said with a look of annoyance, “Is Lucas a man who talks nonsense? Is Ashlyn a woman who would casually wrong others? This couple is clearly not to be trifled with. Who would be so blind to provoke them?”
He was infuriated when he saw Sloan. “You just had to show off and intimidate others a few days ago to give them a hard time, didn't you? Well, look what happened now! They've sold all their new energy and new systems. They're big shots, capable of handling even the Trojan horse virus of Panda Adieu.”
