Chapter 1241 Slap
Immediately, a team of well-trained guards rushed over, escorting all the members of the Guzman family to their seats.
Marilyn cried out loudly, “No... Mr. President, they are all bad people. They ruined our family! They destroyed us!”
Her voice gradually faded away, leaving the entire banquet hall in utter silence.
No one dared to make a sound.
The atmosphere was eerie and terrifying.
It was so quiet that it was as if everyone present were mere puppets, with only the occasional sound of breathing to be heard.
After a while, Ashlyn chuckled softly, “What a great show this is.”
As soon as she spoke up, no one dared to respond carelessly.
Lucas spoke up lightly. “Are you tired from watching the drama? If you're tired, we can go home.”
“Sure!” Ashlyn nodded, then turned to Liam, “Shall we, Mr. Cartier?”
Only then did Liam turn his gaze to Ashlyn. She's beautiful. So, this is the legendary Mrs. Nolan? I've heard she has countless secret identities. A woman who can keep Lucas in check is indeed extraordinary.
He nodded. “I suppose I must obey the orders of Lucas' wife.”
The moment Ashlyn heard that she almost tripped and fell to the ground.
She was shocked that he'd call her that.
Seeing her usually calm face slightly change, Lucas couldn't help but grin with amusement. “What's the matter? Feeling bashful?”
“Bashful, my *ss!” Ashlyn raised her hand and gave his waist a twist.
Yuri was led by Liam's firm grip, feeling a bit dizzy as she followed the man's steps. As soon as she turned around, the President quickly stepped in front of her, blocking her path. “Yuri, can you listen to me for a moment?”
Yuri paused, lifting her gaze to the middle-aged man before her. She wasn't sure if it was due to excessive toil over the years or the harsh blow he received earlier that he seemed to have aged significantly.
She looked at him calmly. “Is there something you need?”
Seeing her attitude, the President suppressed his displeasure and still showed what he believed to be a benevolent smile. He said, “I apologize for my foolishness over the years. I swear, from now on, I will make it up to you and Renae. I have failed as a father.”
If it weren't for Liam, he would never utter that apology.
He thought Yuri would be overwhelmed with gratitude, that she would be exceptionally satisfied.
However, Yuri just glanced at him. “I accept your apology, but if you want to make amends, forget it. Your heart only has room for your stepson. There's no place for me in your heart. In my heart, my father has long been gone.”
The President was holding back a surge of anger.
He humbled himself to make amends with Yuri, but she still stubbornly put on airs.
The thought of him possibly having to humbly apologize ticked him off.
He took the initiative to make peace as his way of showing respect to her, and he believed that she wasn't reciprocating his effort.
He was fuming with anger, but in the presence of Liam and Lucas, he didn't dare to do anything.
Rubbing his hands together, the President pleaded, “Yuri, please don't be like this. We are father and daughter, after all. blood is thicker than water. You can't just deny our blood ties.”
“All that's left between you and me is this pitiful blood relation,” Yuri said, her gaze still indifferent and distant. “From now on, just live well with your stepson. I'm just a daughter, not worth mentioning. You used to act as if I didn't exist. I hope you continue to do so.”
Having said that, she strode out.
Liam watched her lonely figure with a smile before he quickly caught up with her.
Ashlyn shook her head. “Everyone knew it would come to this. Why bother in the first place?”
The President's expression was incredibly grim as if he had been harshly slapped several times.
He tried to make amends, but it was all in vain.
A perfectly good banquet was turned into a complete joke.
