Chapter 1255 The Poet
“Is Chester more handsome than me?” he said in a husky and feverish voice.
Ashlyn was at a loss for words.
How did he find out?
She furrowed her brows as she recalled Spencer's suspicious behavior. At once, she knew for sure that it must be Spencer who had tattled again.
So he took the emergency exit to avoid running into me in the elevator?
“So, you won't hug him because you have a boyfriend?” Lucas lifted Ashlyn's chin with his slender finger. A hint of mischief flashed in his deep, dark eyes.
“You're so virtuous, Honey... How should I reward you?”
Ashlyn's face was slightly flushed, a rosy hue spreading across her fair skin.
The unique masculine scent of Lucas lingered, making her cheeks flush and her ears turn red.
She couldn't stand it when he suddenly flirted with her like that.
I'm going to get a nosebleed if he keeps this up.
“Um... could you let go of me first? I'm a bit tired and want to take a bath.” Ashlyn's voice was slightly hoarse as she spoke. Her usually cold tone now seemed to carry a hint of warmth.
However, it sounded to Lucas as if she was seducing him.
Smiling, his slender fingers gently brushed away the stray hairs on her forehead before leaning in for a kiss. “Satisfy me first, then we'll talk.”
The following morning, the sunlight streamed in through the window.
Ashlyn sat up in a daze, feeling sore all over.
Memories from last night that made her blush and her heart race came flooding back, leaving her a bit embarrassed.
The room felt chilly.
She got out of bed and freshened up before leaving the bedroom. The sound of flipping through some documents reverberated from the living room.
She walked over, only to see Lucas outside, sitting with his back to her, engrossed in reading some documents at the table.
Ashlyn always walked lightly, especially when Lucas was engrossed in his work.
Hence, Lucas remained unaware of her presence as she quietly approached him.
As Ashlyn drew closer, she felt an increasing sense of security from Lucas' broad and solid back.
She curled her lips. Why am I having such childish thoughts?
The sense of security was always safest when it came from oneself.
She was already very close to him, and as she looked at the man, she couldn't help but want to get closer.
She tilted her head, watching Lucas's movements, and noticed that he was making notes on the document with a pen.
His handwriting was beautiful, vigorous, and powerful.
As she watched him, for some reason, a sudden, inexplicable warmth surfaced in her heart.
“Have you seen enough?”
Lucas slightly tilted his head, a captivating smile playing on his devilishly handsome face.
Memories from last night that made her blush and her heart race came flooding back, leaving her a bit embarrassed.
Ashlyn felt awkward. She thought he hadn't noticed, but it turned out he knew all along.
He deftly wrote a line of text on the notebook beside him. After he finished writing, he tore off the paper and handed it to Ashlyn.
Ashlyn took it with surprise. However, after seeing that line of text, she couldn't help but chuckle softly.
“Naughty.”
“Through your eyes, I can see the beautiful sky, ocean, and our future together!” These words were written on the paper. It wasn't particularly cheesy, nor particularly moving, but it was quite enticing.
This man, usually aloof and heartless now seemed to have stepped down from his pedestal, capable of writing such playful little love notes.
Isn't this the kind of trick that only those in their teens would usually play? But I'm happy with this.
Her heart suddenly softened.
It became as soft as the fluffiest marshmallow on a cloud.
Suddenly, she reached out and gently embraced him from behind, holding his strong waist.
She pressed her small face firmly against his back.
Lucas was taken aback for a moment, then slowly asked, “What's wrong?”
“It's nothing, I just want to hug you.” Ashlyn's voice was a bit husky. Her life was seriously lacking in warmth.
Lucas gently turned around, only to find her, for reasons unknown, looking down and not meeting his gaze.
