Chapter 489 The Stupid Rich Man
Recanalization Surgery usually took one to two hours.
Since Colin had entered the operating room, Abbot had kept talking with Faye without a break to fulfill his commitment. And the topics ranged from astronomy to geography.
In the end, he had a sore throat, so he turned his head, pushed Ethan, and said, "Ethan, it's your turn now."
Ethan said, "I am not as talkative as you."
Abbot retorted, "I did it for Colin, OK?"
Ethan teased, "You know who you did it for."
Hearing this, Abbot showed a slightly unnatural expression and said, "A straight foot is not afraid of a crooked shoe."
Ethan didn't reply but rolled his eyes at him, implying that he knew he was acting.
Seeing this, Abbot felt guilty, so he raised his hand to touch the tip of his nose and turned his head to continue chatting with Faye.
Faye was somewhat absent-minded as if her heart had followed Colin into the operating room.
Although she responded to Abbot from time to time, she didn't pay attention to what he was saying at all.
After a while, Abbot saw that Faye did not want to chat, so he stood up, cleared his throat, and said, "I'll go buy you a bottle of water."
Faye refused, "I'm not thirsty."
Abbot said, "But I think you are thirsty."
Then he kicked Ethan and said, "Stay here and accompany Faye. I'll be back soon."
And before Ethan could reply, he turned and left.
Neither Ethan nor Faye was talkative. So, as soon as Abbot left, they fell silent.
After a few minutes, Ethan felt the atmosphere was too embarrassing, so he took the initiative to say, "Don't worry. This kind of minor surgery is safe."
Faye nodded, "I know."
Then, the atmosphere became frigid again.
Abbot walked out of the hospital and went to the convenience store opposite the street to buy water. He casually grabbed three bottles of water and then waited in a lined to check out.
When he was swiping his phone with his head down, he suddenly heard a loud noise from the front.
"Don't jump the queue!"
"Miss, I'm pressed for time. Can you please let me cut in line?"
Rebecca said, "I inferred from your words that you lack the urge to do things better."
The young man was speechless.
While Rebecca was speaking, it was her turn to check out. She put the bags of different sizes in her hands on the check stand, turned around, folded her arms over her chest, and continued, "People must be down-to-earth, OK? A while ago, a stupid rich young man pestered me to date him, but I refused him without hesitation."
The young man looked at her in confusion, thinking her refusing a stupid rich young man had nothing to do with himself.
After Rebecca finished speaking, she let out a long sigh of relief as if she had finally revealed the secret that she had kept to herself for a long time.
After venting her anger, she waved at the young man and said, "Go to the back to join in the queue."
The young man had experienced her eloquence, and he dared not to retort although he was angry. So, he could only walk to the end of the queue with his head down.
Rebecca kept staring after him as if she were afraid that he would take a shortcut in life.
After confirming that he was obediently lining up, she nodded with satisfaction and withdraw her gaze. But when she raised her head, she met Abbot's meaningful eyes.
Abbot mouthed, "A stupid rich young man?"
Rebecca was speechless.
