Madeliene
It was the voice of Garron and I was surprised to see him walk into the patch of moonlight filtering in through the windows a moment later. He was grinning at me and eyed the wooden stick I held in front of me.
“Put that aside, Madeleine. I am not here to hurt you.”
I looked at the stick and to Garron and back to the stick. I didn’t feel like dropping it, but then he was my alpha. I couldn’t really deny a direct order from him.
Thus, I lowered the stick and placed it on the ground. He smiled at me as he said, “ Good girl.”
“Now please take a seat.” He extended his hand towards the bed asking me to sit on it.
I was growing hesitant but I agreed to him. There was nothing else I could do either way.
Garron pulled a wooden chair and placed it in front of me. Throwing his legs over it, he placed it while keeping the backside towards me. As I looked at him warily, he placed both his hands on the backside of the chair and then proceeded to place his chin on his hands.
“So, I have an offer for you. I noticed that the alpha of the Blue moon pack has grown particularly fond of you. Maybe, he pities you…either way, I have a nice deal to help both of us live happily.”
I raised my eyebrows at that. I had no clue what he could possibly mean by a deal. I couldn’t give him something he couldn't find himself. So, I answered honestly.
“I don’t know what you mean…”
Garron chuckled and moved his hands through his hair. He waved his finger at me and answered, “You would be going to his pack to train with the rest of our pack. And, I want you to work as my spy. If you do that, I will ensure that Steve doesn't bother you anymore.”
He was looking at me with an evil grin as if he had just offered me a once in a lifetime opportunity.
As I began thinking what this could mean, he went on, “See, I know I gave Steve a lot of free reign and he has been manhandling you. But, I was busy with the other pack duties to keep him restrained. But, now I would do that since I know you can become a useful ally.”
The thought of Steve never even bothering me was relieving but would I want that at the cost of betraying Hayden?
Yet, I was curious to hear him out. The thought that I would meet Hayden again made me hopeful. If he was going to send me to Hayden’s pack, I needed to know what he had planned.
And, I hoped he wasn’t just a talker like Steve. I had seen him brutally kill my pack members and I had been wanting to take my revenge on him and Steve, both.
Through Hayden, I would achieve that by becoming stronger. My fingers curled into my fist as I decided I would do it slowly and not rush it. Hence, I looked at Garron in confusion and asked,
“What do you mean by spying? What specific information do you need?”
Garron rubbed his hands together and got up from the chair in excitement. He thought he had me cornered.
“Anything and everything that happens there while you stay in his territory. Who does he favor, who does he hate, what are his deepest fears and his greatest weakness…”
I looked at him incredulously. He was cooking something big and I needed to know what he wanted to achieve from this.
“But, why do you think he would tell me all of this? I hardly know him.”
Garron was prompt with his reply. He was pacing the room up and down in anticipation and answered,
