The more women he met, the more Charles realized that finding one he could truly trust and want to marry was nearly impossible. People were too focused on what they could gain these days. 

Skylar had chatted with Charles before about his views on relationships and marriage. Back then, she thought he was being too rigid, lumping everyone into the same category. 

It was probably because he hadn’t met the right person yet. Once he did, he would look back at what he said today and find it all very embarrassing. 

They didn’t talk much longer. Joe was done with his shower and came out of the bathroom. 

Skylar also felt a bit sticky and uncomfortable after sweating while walking outside in the heat. Hence, she got up to shower. 

Halfway through her shower, she vaguely heard a knock at the door. Then came the sound of Joe answering, followed by some muffled voices. 

The sound of running water drowned out most of what was being said, so she couldn’t make out anything. By the time she finished her shower and stepped out, Joe had already changed out of his pajamas and was now dressed in a T–shirt and pants. 

Skylar was surprised and asked, “Are you going out?” 

After walking around all day, she figured he should be exhausted. 

“Yeah, a few old classmates are visiting Fachington. I’m going to meet up with them,” Joe replied as he finished adjusting his clothes. 

Skylar nodded while brushing her hair. Joe probably wouldn’t be back tonight. These kinds of reunions usually lasted till dawn. 

Once her hair had dried completely, Skylar lay down on the bed and called Natalie. 

Natalie said, “Today was packed with scenes for Mr. Powell from morning to night. He didn’t even have a chance to eat lunch today; for dinner, he only had a few bites of salad. 

“As his assistant, I was with him the whole day. Both of us are dead tired–working life is tough.” 

Skylar chuckled and said, “You really care about Mr. Powell, don’t you?” 

Lately, Natalie couldn’t stop talking about Austin. Skylar couldn’t help but wonder if her admiration for him was just that of a fan or if something deeper had developed. 

Natalie replied quickly, “Of course I do! Haven’t I told you before how dedicated he is? Someone with his status doesn’t need to work so hard anymore. 

“I mean, no matter how tight the schedule is, he could always carve out time for a proper meal. But no, he doesn’t want to hold up the crew or make things difficult for the director, so he just skips lunch.” 

“Mr. Powell is definitely dedicated,” Skylar said and agreed. 

“Exactly! I need to be just as dedicated as his assistant. Even if I’m exhausted, I have to push through. Thankfully, the shoot’s almost done. Less than a month left, and I’ll be back in Jipsburg. By the way, when are you and Joe heading back?” 

“In about five days, we’ll be back in Jipsburg,” Skylar replied.
