Natalie rushed to the airport three days later to see off Skylar. Seeing Skylar heading toward the airport terminal filled her with a sense of reluctance. She didn’t even glance at Joe, who stood beside Skylar. How come you’re leaving so soon? Didn’t you say you’d stay a couple more days?” 

Last night, they talked on the phone and said they could hang out for another couple more days, but this morning, she was told they were heading back to Jipsburg. 

Natalie had distanced herself from him since she learned about Joe’s behind–the–scenes entanglement with Vera. Anyone who wronged Skylar was her enemy.

“Mr. Gardner Senior said there’s an urgent matter that can’t wait. I need to get back as soon as possible. I’ll wait for you to come back to Jipsburg,” Skylar said as she embraced Natalie, feeling a tinge of sadness 

herself. 

Joe had work commitments too. 

During their time in Fachington, Joe had accumulated a lot of work back in Jipsburg. Garth and Ernest had recently been involved in many clandestine activities, creating numerous problems. Gloria’s health had also seemed to deteriorate in the past few days. 

With so many issues piling up, their trip had to be cut short. “Alright, see you back in Jipsburg,” Natalie 

said. 

As she was about to leave, she glanced at Joe, intending to say something. But she decided against it. thinking it might not be helpful for Skylar. She gave Joe a frustrated look and then averted her gaze. 

She watched as the two of them made their way into the airport terminal. 

Once they were inside, Joe asked, “Does Natalie have something against me? When did I offend her?” 

Skylar glanced back at the airport, noticing that Natalie had already left. 

It seemed that Natalie had picked up on the tension between her and Joe, leading to a bit of hostility toward him. Natalie had always been someone who fiercely stood against what she perceived as wrongdoing. 

Skylar smiled and said, “You might need to ask her yourself. I’m not really sure.” 

Joe’s brows furrowed, but he chose not to pursue the matter further. 

Inside the hotel, Vera, dressed in an elegant long gown, knocked a few times on the door. 

There was no response from the room. Over the past three days, Vera had scarcely seen Joe. 

Each time she tried to find him, he was either out with Skylar or had gone to bed early upon returning. 

Their paths had barely crossed. 

They also communicated via WhatsApp and had previously mentioned they could revisit the old places together. However, that opportunity hadn’t come until today.
