Chapter 1019
Skylar’s mind was still a bit scattered. She didn’t notice when Janine finished cooking and came out of the kitchen carrying dishes.
She pointed at a middle–aged man on the TV and said, “This guy looks a lot like your dad. You were too young back then to remember him, but even Steven said he resembles him.”
“Looks like Dad?” Skylar finally paid attention to the TV, which was showing a drama.
It seemed to be a romantic urban drama, with the middle–aged man likely playing the father of one of the
leads.
He appeared refined, suggesting he must have been quite handsome in his youth.
“Yeah, a bit. The eyes are very similar. Remember when I fell and had to go to the hospital a while back? I saw someone there who looked just like your dad,” Janine chatted casually.
Skylar turned off the TV and sat down at the dining table. “There are so many people in the world and plenty who look alike.”
“True, but it’s quite a coincidence. If your dad were still alive, he’d be so proud to see how well you and your brothers have grown, each excelling in your careers and studies,” Janine said, reminiscing about her husband, who had passed away unexpectedly.
She couldn’t help but feel a wave of emotion, especially since she had never had the chance to say goodbye. She often felt a weight in her heart.
Sometimes, she even had the feeling that her husband was still alive.
But that was impossible. If he were alive, he would have come home all these years. Janine wondered what could be more important than family.
Setting aside those chaotic thoughts, Janine looked at Skylar and smiled. “Try my cooking and see if I’ve lost my touch. I’ve been so busy lately that sometimes I just order takeout. It’s so convenient these days.
Skylar wasn’t really hungry and didn’t have much of an appetite, but seeing the familiar dishes in front of her–each one with that comforting taste of home–she took a bite of the food and gave a thumbs–up as
she ate.
“Mom, your cooking is just the best! While I was in Fachington, I kept thinking about your meals. Eating your food makes me so happy!” As she spoke, Skylar’s eyes began to mist up.
Noticing Skylar’s red eyes, Janine was taken aback for a moment, then couldn’t help but chuckle. “Silly girl, just eat. If you ever want to have my cooking again, just come home. I’ll always be here to make it for you. Steven and Charles said they’d be home for the weekend, so we can all get together then.”
“Okay.” Skylar smiled and nodded.
Having family around made her feel deeply cherished.
Skylar hadn’t seen Joe for three days. However, today, she ran into Vera.
The company was hosting a team–building event, and the entire department went to an upscale seafood
buffet.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
