Chapter 1039
Chapter 1039
Joe said nothing. He glanced at Skylar, who was fast asleep. He glared at Howard and signified that he should change the drip out and get lost.
Howard took the hint immediately. He sped up. He wanted to leave as soon as possible. Who liked to be a third wheel?
The two men went downstairs and stared at each other.
Howard started, “Have we been worrying over nothing?
“They didn’t need our concern.” Paul nodded.
Skylar hadn’t thought she would fall asleep. In addition, she sat on the ground with her head on the bed. She fell asleep with her hands interlocked.
She must have been really sleepy; if not, she wouldn’t have fallen asleep in such a horrible position.
Skylar couldn’t help but critique herself. Before she could continue, her eyes met Joe’s.
One couldn’t tell what he was thinking from his dark eyes.
“How are you feeling?” Skylar asked. She eyed the view outside.
Night had fallen. How long had she been sleeping?
The drip had already been taken away.
Joe said hoarsely, “I’m alright.”
“That’s great. Mr. Ziegler and Dr. Grey are downstairs. I’ll go get him and ask him to take a look at you” Skylar said. She started to stand up.
Joe said, “They’ve left. I’m fine.”
When he thought of how Skylar had seen him in his moment of weakness, fury burned within him.
Skylar stood up. When she saw their joined hands, a fantasy struck her. It was as though no one would ever separate them.
Joe followed Skylar’s gaze. When he noticed their hands, he thought Skylar didn’t want him to touch her. Thus, he let go.
Skylar stared thoughtfully at her now empty palm.
“I didn’t ask Paul to call you,” Joe added.
Skylar replied with a pale face, “Yeah, I know. They don’t know we’re getting divorced yet.”
“So… did you rush over immediately after Paul’s call because you were worried about me? Or was it because you love me?” Joe studied Skylar like a hunter who’d seen through his prey’s disguise. Skylar was his prey. Her heart could’ve been stone cold.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
