Chapter 1099
Skylar suddenly grabbed Aiken’s arm tightly.
Aiken turned to look at her and asked, “Can you still hold on?”
These simple words answered the question that had been pressing at the bottom of Skylar’s heart since she stepped out of the elevator.
It was an answer she didn’t want to guess or admit.
Her eyes reddened as she looked at Aiken, unable to say a single word. She didn’t know how to ask.
The morgue was freezing. It was so cold that it made her shiver uncontrollably.
Aiken looked at her with sympathy. “Maybe you shouldn’t see this. I can explain what I know outside.”
He had seen Skylar laugh, being serious and confident when she was being professional, but he had never seen her like this–so pale and afraid. He felt a sudden urge to protect her, thinking she shouldn’t have to face this. It was too cruel for her.
“I need to see her. Maybe it’s not Grandma Viola,” Skylar said firmly.
Although her eyes were red, there was no trace of hesitation in them.
Aiken looked at her deeply before nodding. “Alright, let’s go.”
A few minutes later, Skylar saw Viola.
She was lifeless. But her face looked peaceful as if she were merely asleep.
Skylar looked for a long time, confirming what she was seeing. She looked closely at the mole near the corner of the eye, another one near the ear, and the wrinkles around the eyes.
Viola had wrinkles, but her skin had always been smooth and fair.
Skylar closed her eyes tightly, her chest aching unbearably.
“It’s… Grandma Viola,” she finally managed to say.
Aiken nodded and supported her. “Are you okay? Let’s talk outside.”
Skylar’s eyes were bloodshot, but she held back her tears. She looked at Aiken and nodded. “Okay.”
The two of them walked out of the morgue and made their way to the hospital’s first floor.
They went out of the hospital, where sunlight fell on them, dispelling some of the chilliness.
Skylar remained silent for a long time, and Aiken waited patiently.
“How did you find her? And how did this happen? She had always been healthy. I remembered that she would only get a fever or a cold occasionally and recover quickly,” Skylar asked Aiken, her mind filled with questions she couldn’t understand.
She couldn’t comprehend why Viola would be gone just like that. She couldn’t accept it.
“According to the investigation, Madam Viola lived abroad for a while. She just returned recently and was found a few days ago on a park bench. She passed away in her sleep with no signs of poisoning or illness. It was peaceful.
“As for why she didn’t contact you after returning, I still don’t know,” Aiken explained slowly.
Skylar was stunned. “Grandma Viola went abroad?”

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
