This was Rosa's trump card.
For Ned, the time he spent injured in the hospital was when Rosa had emptied her savings and maxed out her credit cards to help him through the tough times.
Deep down, he knew that she was more than just his girlfriend. She was his savior and even closer than family.
She understood all too well that if she brought up the past, he would be inclined to compromise. Sure enough, after a brief moment of silence, Ned responded, "Alright, I'll have someone book the flight ticket."
With his confirmation, Rosa broke into a smile, wiping away her tears. "I knew it. You're the best person in the world to me, Ned. I really love you. Promise me—no matter what happens in this life, you won't leave me. You can't abandon me, okay?"
Each plea revealed Rosa's anxiety. In the past, Ned had been her devoted partner. Now, she felt as though she had become his. She simply couldn't leave Ned. Her love for him had grown immensely over the years, and she had to ensure he never saw Skylar again.
…
Jeremy knew where Ned was staying. After giving Skylar his number, he sent her the details of the hotel.
Skylar sat in her car, reading the hotel information while a surge of emotions rushed through her. Although Rosa hadn't provided a clear answer, her panicked demeanor almost confirmed that Ned had indeed been in a car accident over three years ago.
This was all just a coincidence.
The person who had been trapped in the underground factory with Paul was the real Ned. The Ned she knew now was Joe, who had lost some of his memories. This revelation made Skylar's heart race uncontrollably.
She had to see him tomorrow.
His thoughts wandered, and various signs suggested that Skylar easily captivated him. He frowned as he stared at the message and recalled Rosa's desperate pleas.
He closed WhatsApp. It was best to halt his uncontrollable attraction before it spiraled out of control.
At that moment, his assistant's call came through.
"Mr. Sowle, there's a flight available to return to Murida tomorrow. I'll pick up Ms. Reese now and take her back to the hotel."
Ned replied with a neutral, "Okay."
After hanging up, he walked to the window and stood there with a cigarette in hand. Just as he was about to light it, he hesitated.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
