Hearing Vivian call out to her, Skylar stood up. As she walked toward the children's play areas, she glanced back at Priscilla and Trina, who were still chattering away.
The two women's expressions shifted drastically. Their faces paled as their gazes darted between Joe, Vivian, and Skylar.
It was the kind of sinking feeling that drained the color from their faces.
"Mrs. Martin?" Priscilla's voice trembled as if she was in a daze.
Skylar's eyes briefly swept over them before she turned toward the children's play area. Though her demeanor remained composed, Priscilla and Trina were anything but calm.
The two women swallowed nervously, their gazes snapping away from Skylar. They turned to look at each other, their eyes wide with disbelief and panic.
They thought, "How could this happen?"
"She's Mrs. Martin? Does that mean she overheard everything we just said? What if she tells Mr. Martin and then…" Trina's words trailed off in pure panic, as if she couldn't even bear to finish the thought.
No one could have imagined that a weekend getaway meant to be relaxing would take such an unexpected turn. Conversations like these were just lighthearted banter between friends—harmless musings fueled by fleeting fantasies and a touch of greed. They weren't meant to be taken seriously.
They didn't expect that their casual remarks about trying to catch Joe's attention would be overheard by none other than his wife.
This wasn't just embarrassing—it was catastrophic.
Priscilla's face went pale as her thoughts spiraled. She felt dizzy, her mind an utter mess. "We weren't exactly whispering. She probably heard everything."
What made it worse was the looming possibility of Skylar telling Joe. If he found out, Priscilla's job might be on the line.

More chapters please...
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
