"What? What granny?" Natalie froze in confusion.
Their family did employ a helper, but she was only in her 40s. Occasionally, her parents would come by to lend a hand. But there shouldn't be any granny.
Skylar understood immediately—it was Viola who had come to Vivian. A heavy feeling settled in her heart. She glanced at Natalie, whose face was filled with bewilderment, and said softly, "I'll explain it to you later. I need to take Vivian home now."
"Oh, okay. I'll see you off," Natalie said. Noticing Skylar's suddenly serious expression, she sensed something might be going on.
Then, she cast a worried look at Vivian.
A few minutes later, she returned to the house.
Austin, puzzled, asked, "Why did they leave so suddenly?"
"Vivian said an old lady told her to go home. Skylar looked quite serious just now—I think something might be up," Natalie said, feeling a vague unease. It was as if something involving Skylar might happen in the future.
She couldn't tell if this feeling came from reality or the novels she had been reading online. Lately, she'd even been having chaotic dreams unrelated to anything that had happened in real life.
Sometimes, she dreamed of Skylar getting into a car accident and being mistreated by her biological parents and brothers. She even dreamed of the shock and pain she felt upon hearing the news. The emotions were so intense that they felt as real as reality.
The pain was unbearable. But of course, she knew it was just a dream.
"With Joe around, they can handle anything that comes their way. And Skylar is very capable herself—don't worry," Austin said as he came over to comfort Natalie, whose sudden nervousness was evident.
Natalie smiled. "That's true. There's no need to worry for now. Skylar and Joe have seen their fair share of storms, after all."
…
On the way home, Skylar drove while Vivian sat in the child seat in the back.
"Did the old lady say anything else besides telling you to go home?" Skylar asked.

More chapters please...
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
