This would also make Vera more proactive in seeking reconciliation.
Joe's gaze deepened. "Since you're injured, you should stay in the hospital and get proper treatment."
Hearing Joe's cold, distant tone, Vera felt both panicked and hurt. "Joe, do you really have to push me away like this?"
Before today, Vera would never have been so irrational as to question him. She never wanted to show weakness in front of Joe or let him see her trump cards. But after the fire, much of her pride had disappeared. She had been truly scared.
"If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up," Joe said coldly.
"Fine! Joe, it's my fault for being so full of myself and thinking I meant something to you. I won't call you again! I won't bother you anymore. Are you happy now?"
Vera ended the call first.
Paul had already been looking out of the car window. When it came to Joe's personal life, it was best not to ask any questions.
Joe leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes. His expression became hard to read.
Joe's thoughts were difficult to read.
Paul thought to himself with a sigh.
…
Vera lay in her hospital bed. She covered her face and cried for a while. Then, she worried that someone might notice, so she got up and went to the restroom to wash her face.
Her pride and self-esteem seemed worthless in front of Joe.
Suddenly, she regretted how confident she had been back then. She thought that Joe, who was always so aloof, wouldn't easily fall for anyone. Moreover, given his father's affair, Joe would likely value the purest form of love between a man and a woman even more.
But in the end, she realized she had overlooked the fact that what men might care about most was simply satisfying their desires. Otherwise, Joe couldn't possibly be involved with someone as impure as Skylar.
He even kept Skylar in Galaxy Villa.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
