Jerry saw the note she left for himself.
He understood Charlotte, and he also knew that he was not the only person ranked first in her contact list.
The contacts were arranged alphabetically, and if she liked someone, she'll add the character “love” in front of their name to make it easier to find them when needed.
He knew everything, but as soon as she slightly pleased him or coaxed him, he couldn't bring himself to be angry with her.
Jerry hugged her close, his head buried in the crook of her neck. “I know.”
The party went on until eleven o'clock, when Charlotte remembered that she had to return to Jadeborough for work the next day, so she left with Jerry.
The car pulled up to the hotel where they were staying, and Charlotte caught a glimpse of something as she got out of the vehicle.
She glanced across the street and happened to see a man handing the child he was holding to someone inside the car. Since the man kept his head down the whole time, Charlotte couldn't get a clear look at his full appearance even as he got into the vehicle.
Jerry saw her standing by the car without leaving and asked in surprise, “What's wrong?”
Charlotte glanced at him, and when she looked back across the street, the Cullinan car had already driven away. She didn't pay much attention to it and held onto Jerry's arm as they headed toward the hotel.
“Nothing. I might have seen it wrong.”
The next day, Charlotte returned to Jadeborough for work, while Jerry received a call from Kieron, who directed the previously wrapped-up film, asking to reshoot a few scenes. He hurried off to the film studio.
When Charlotte had free time, she would send messages to tease her boyfriend, reminding him not to get too close to the actresses on set.
After finishing her busy work, Charlotte found out that Kieron had returned to Jadeborough. She called him and invited him to have lunch at Golden Restaurant.
