Chapter 12
After the news finished airing, everyone in the room looked at each other. Why would Christopher release this news? Even though it is rather shocking that the Centurion Corporation has invested two billion, what does it have to do with Christopher, though?
The Murrays didn’t realize the impact of the news. Even Fabio didn’t realize it and cussed, “Are you f**king stupid, Christopher? What does Centurion Corporation investing two billion have anything to do with you? How dare you say that my dad is childish! I think you’re the one being f**king childish!”
“That’s right! Do you think you’re the owner of Centurion Corporation?” Even the other elders joined in on reprimanding Christopher. Frank was full of hope, expecting Christopher to flash a trump card that could turn the tables, yet he was disappointed when Christopher merely released some irrelevant news.
Anger came after the disappointment. Amidst the raging cusses within the Murrays’ living room, a boldness rose within Frank. “Are you crazy, Christopher? What does that have anything to do with you? Shut up! It’s all your f**king fault-” he shouted.
Before he could finish his cussing, he heard a gurgle that was so out of place in the room that it snapped him out of his red haze. Everyone in the room turned to watch Fabian spew a mouthful of blood and slump onto his seat.
Fabian forcibly swallowed the other part of his curse with a dazed look. I was swearing at Christopher, so why was Fabian vomiting?
“Dad? Dad, what’s wrong? Why are you spewing blood?” Fabio was dumbstruck. The rest of the Murrays turned to Fabian with worried gazes. None of them knew why he suddenly spewed blood.
Even Julianna was shocked. Everyone in the room was stunned at the sudden turn of events.
“Fabian, what happened to you?” The elders were frantic. They had never encountered such a situation before.
Only Christopher knew what was happening. With a smile, he explained, “Don’t worry, Fabio. Your dad just felt bad about having given us a useless piece of land at the Dragon Valley. In other words, Centurion Corporation will be buying the land in my hands and even collaborate with me.”
Christopher’s words were like a bomb exploding in the Murrays’ living room. The mere thought of the two billion investment by the Centurion Corporation was more than enough to frighten them into a coma.
“What? Centurion Corporation wants to develop that land?” The tears swimming in Fabio’s eyes were on the verge of falling. The others in the room finally realized the piece of land in Frank’s hands was no longer wasteland. It was a gold mine.
“Haha! Fabian, this is God’s will!”
Frank, who was a nervous wreck, laughed triumphantly after hearing the news. I was humiliated when I had to kneel in repentance in front of the entire family from Fabian punishment earlier. Fabian has always been a towering mountain that weighed heavily on me, but now I realized I have the chance to turn the tables.
Do I still have to be afraid of Fabian if I collaborate with Centurion Corporation?
Frank slowly climbed to his feet. His legs trembled after kneeling for so long. Julianna hurriedly went over to him and helped him steady himself. She never thought the tables would turn in a split second. Glee bloomed within Julianna at seeing the expressions on Fabian’s family and the elders, and pride filled her gaze when she looked at Christopher.
“Frank, who gave you permission to stand up?” Fabian yelled after recollecting himself. He wiped the blood from the corners of his mouth and shouted, “Kneel!”
However, Frank was confident when he spoke, “Fabian, you were unfair to my family and me. Since all three of the elders are here, I want you to give us an explanation.”
“Frank, how dare you be pompous in front of me! How dare you ask me for an explanation!” Fabian scoffed as if nothing had happened earlier.
“I kept the deed of that land in my study and you stole it from me when I had my guard down. I never thought you would commit such a petty crime. If you return the deed you stole, I won’t call the police. Otherwise, don’t blame me for the consequences.”
Fabian was a sly fox indeed. In just a few short minutes, he had already thought up a plan.
“Bullsh**! Fabio was the one who gave it to me!” Frank yelled with his face flushed from anger.
“Uncle Frank, when did I give it to you? I never imagined you would steal the land deed that belongs to my family. I hope you can be our witness to that,” Fabio turned to the elders after finally catching on to what was happening.
“Frank, I never thought you were capable of doing something like this! The Murrays don’t have scum like you!” the elders of the Murrays admonished Frank.
Frank had thought the current situation was a guaranteed win for him but lost his confidence after hearing Fabian’s and Fabio’s excuses and how the elders took Fabian’s side. He instinctively assumed he would lose to Fabian.
“This is slander, Uncle Fabian! Fabio was the one who gave it to us. Don’t force us to go to court with you,” Julianna warned as anger gripped her at Fabian’s blatant lie.
“Do you think your family could win me in court with your power? Not only will you lose in court, but your family might even end up in prison.” Fabian eyed Frank and Julianna mockingly. Hearing Fabian’s words, the courage Frank had gathered in him dissipated instantly.
He was so used to losing to Fabian that he never thought he could ever win against him.
Fabian continued, “Frank, we’re brothers, so why are we hurting our relationship because of Christopher? I supposed you asked him to steal the deed from us. Don’t worry. I’ll let the past stay in the past if you chase Christopher out of the Murray family, and I’ll even split a portion of the assets with you. We’ll still be one family.”
A sardonic grin stretched across Fabian’s lips. He knew he had the regain control of the situation. As long as I get through to Frank and take back the deed, everything will end nicely.
Even if I have to go to court with Frank, he poses no threat to me with his limited network. As for Christopher, I can oppress him with a stomp of my foot. He is nothing to fear. After all, a good-for-nothing will always stay useless.
“Y-You guys are despicable!” Julianna’s entire body was trembling with rage. She was on the verge of crying from the anger rolling within her. I have never met anyone so despicable!
“Just accept your fate, Julianna, and marry Mr. Cordrington resignedly,” Fabio taunted.
I’m impressed with Dad’s quick thinking. He not only regained control of the entire situation in such a short period but even oppressed Uncle Frank’s family, subjugating them forever. If Uncle Frank doesn’t agree to Dad’s condition, he’ll have to go to jail.
As expected of Fabian, cunning as always. Alas, no matter how tricky he is, he’s merely a patriarch of the Murrays. Christopher laughed. “Haha! Fabian, I was amazed that you could even think of that! You are very sly indeed!”
“You’re still wet behind the ears, Christopher. It’s still too early for you to go against me!” Fabian taunted.
Fabian had completely regained his confidence and was looking at Christopher with disdain. As long as I insist that Frank is the one who stole the deed from the family, he will surely lose. Moreover, I might even get to kick Christopher out of the family.
“Yeah, I might still be wet behind the ears, but you’re not that smart either.” Christopher sneered.
“Not smart? I see you’re still stubborn even to this moment. As of this point, you’re the thief who stole our family deed. If you kneel and bow to me in repentance for your crime, annul your marriage with Julianna, and leave the family, I won’t send you to the police,” Fabian negotiated.
Fear crept up Julianna at Fabian’s warning. I never thought Uncle Fabian could be so cruel. Not only is he planning to devour our family assets, but he’s also forcing me to marry Jared.
“Uncle Fabian, we don’t want the deed anymore. Just let us go. We’re sorry,” Julianna sobbed.
“It’s too late to beg for forgiveness now, Julianna.” A sense of superiority filled Fabio as he looked at Julianna’s pitiful and meek state.
Christopher grabbed Julianna’s hand and said, “This kind of people isn’t worthy of our plead.”
“What? Do you plan on going to prison then, Christopher? Oh, I get it. A veteran don’t go to prison,” Fabian snickered.
“Go to prison? Honestly, Fabian, this method of yours is truly amazing. Unfortunately, it’s useless against me because I already had the deed notarized, and I have the copy of the notarized document here!” Christopher reached for a piece of paper from his pocket and gave it to Fabian.
“You can call the police now, but I can tell you Old Mr. Murray was the one who left that piece of land to us at the court later. Go on. Call the police and have them arrest us. We’ll be sitting here, waiting for them.”
