Chapter 69 Impending Doom
With all these burly men standing at the entrance of the boutique, anyone could tell that Christopher was in big trouble.
The store manager had thought of calling the police, but upon remembering who owned Sky Dragon Bar, he figured that there was no use getting the police involved. They probably won’t even care about anything related to Sky Dragon Bar.
Sighing, the manager could only silently mourn Christopher’s impending doom.
Christopher’s expression remained calm. He didn’t want the boutique to be entangled in this mess, and he certainly wasn’t afraid to head upstairs to Sky Dragon Bar.
“Sure, but let me make a phone call before that,” he replied casually.
“God d*mmit, punk! Are you thinking of calling for backup? It’s no use!” Amos yelled. “You’ve gotten on Pierce’s bad side, and not even a god will be able to save you now. So be a good boy and come upstairs with us. Oh, and don’t even think about calling the cops!”
“He’s right! Are you seriously thinking of finding help after hitting someone from Malcolm Group?” Lulu chimed in.
The bar manager didn’t want a fight to ensue here, so he nodded. “Fine. Make the call, but you’ll have to come with us after that,” he stated, aware that everything would be fine as long as they took the commotion upstairs in the bar.
Thus, Christopher whipped out his phone and dialed Diane’s number without any hesitation. The woman had just left in a car when she received Christopher’s call. “Sir,” she greeted right after answering the phone.
“Ms. Reed, are you familiar with Jadeborough International Square?” Christopher asked in a hushed voice.
“I am. It’s one of Centurion Corporation’s subsidiaries. The whole area belongs to you, Sir. There’s information on this in the agreement from before, but you didn’t read it as you were caught up with something urgent,” Diane explained.
“Oh. What about Malcolm Kirk? Do you know him? Give me his address.”
He didn’t want Diane to involve herself with matters related to the underground world. He was prepared to call the military and have them make Malcolm disappear from the city.
After all, not even the king of the underground world would stand a chance against the military.
“Malcolm is someone I support from the shadows,” Diane said, suddenly getting a feeling that Malcolm might have crossed Christopher. “Did something happen, Mr. Yaeger? I’ll be right there.”
Christopher didn’t expect Malcolm to be under Diane. That makes him my subordinate too, which means I can’t just get rid of him like that.
“It’s fine. Get Amanda to come over instead. Oh, and Malcolm too.”
With that, Christopher hung up and carried Erisa in his arms.
The phone conversation made everyone dumbstruck. Who does this guy think he is? Not only did he just mention Malcolm Kirk’s name so casually, but he’s even asking him to come over. He’s gone way too far!
Even the bar manager was befuddled. Does this guy actually know Mr. Malcolm?
“Hahaha! D*mn! Who do you think you are, acting like a king? Are you trying to scare us? Is that how you hide your own fears? Well, it’s too late!” Amos refused to believe that Christopher actually knew Malcolm.
And he’s still trying to sound like a boss, getting Malcolm Kirk to come over? Please. Not all elites in this city can even do that, let alone a loser like him!
After hearing Amos’ words, the bar manager couldn’t resist reprimanding himself. Have I forgotten who Mr. Malcolm is? He’s a force to be reckoned with in Jadeborough! There’s no way he’d come over from just a phone call.
Assuming that Christopher was only trying to frighten them, the man showed not a single hint of fear. “Can we go now?” he asked, seeing that the latter had hung up.
With a nod, Christopher followed the men to Sky Dragon Bar with Erisa in his arms. The girl was initially afraid and knew that she had gotten Christopher into a pinch, but she felt more at ease after seeing his smile.
It took about a minute for Christopher to be brought to Sky Dragon Bar, where Pierce, Tyler, and the rest of their gang awaited him. They wanted to find out who had dared put on a scene on their turf.
But as soon as they spotted Christopher, they burst into laughter. Encountering a hillbilly in ragged clothes carrying a little girl was definitely not something they had anticipated.
To them, Christopher was simply a loser who didn’t know better not to cross Malcolm Group.
Even Pierce couldn’t help but frown. He had expected to meet someone more formidable, and yet it turned out to be someone like Christopher.
