Chapter 1078
Genevieve laughed and curiously asked her, “Why a duck and not something else?”
“That's because the principal keeps chickens and ducks,” Amanda muttered. “I've seen the ducks at the principal's place, and they're so white and cute. I want one.”
After a moment, the girl added, “It's fine if you and Daddy aren't free. It'll be the same if Mr. Sullivan comes with us instead.”
“If a duck is what you want, a duck is what you'll get. I'll always have time for you.” Genevieve then turned to Armand and said, “Mister Busy, will you be free on Wednesday?”
Armand smiled, a soft look in his eyes. “I'll always be free wherever you want to go.”
“Yay!” Amanda cheered.
When Asel, who was drinking milk, saw Amanda cheering with her arms raised, she lifted her small hand and waved too. Both girls were beaming.
A wave of melancholy washed over Armand when he saw how happy Asel was.
Even after he used all the resources he had, he could only find out that someone had taken Johanna away—he could not find out who had taken her and to where.
He could see how Timothy was growing more and more frustrated with each passing day, but there was nothing he could do but try harder to look for Johanna.
Genevieve registered the man's expressions without a word.
After tucking the two girls in, Genevieve went to shower and change into nightwear. Then, she circled around the corridor before finally finding Armand smoking in the study.
She walked over to him and sat down on his lap when he spread his arms. “I haven't smoked before. Can I try it?”
“This isn't anything good,” Armand said.
“Yet you're smoking it.” Genevieve frowned and pulled his cigarette-holding hand toward herself. “I just want to experience how it is to breathe out the smoke.”
A laugh escaped Armand at that. He was sure that she would make a fuss if he denied her the chance to try it out.
