Jerry and Cooper were frustrated about the same thing.
Cooper was only able to find evidence of Edward's embezzlement by teaming up with Sally to set up a trap for Josephine. After installing the software on her phone, which successfully allowed Lucian to hack into the Carter family's wireless network, they were able to retrieve every single piece of information from Edward's phone.
However, Cooper didn't know the rest of them, so he couldn't approach them. Moreover, they would definitely be on high alert after what happened to Edward.
This was the first time he realized being rich was nothing compared to having power.
If Sally was here, I could get Robert or Gerald's help at any time. But I don't even know where she is now. I'm not related to Robert at all. Why would he even help me? The more I think about it, the more I think I should have at least voice-recorded our agreement. That way, even if she is gone, I can still use the recording to get Gerald to help me.
Feeling frustrated, Cooper downed his red wine in one gulp. When he looked up, he saw that there were people on the rooftop garden of the mansion.
He had sharp eyes, and he saw a woman leaning leisurely against the railing of the garden, her hair softly blowing in the wind. There was a cool and hazy aura around her.
Even though he could only see half of her face, he recognized her instantly.
Cooper stared at her back. Before he could come to his senses, a young man approached her and brazenly pulled her into his arms.
The man lowered his head and whispered something to her, their heads very close to each other. Then, the man pressed his lips to hers.
Jerry heard a crisp cracking sound. He followed the direction of the sound and unexpectedly found that Cooper had crushed the bottom of the wine glass in his hand.
A chill ran down his spine as he watched Cooper toss the broken wine glass aside and leave.
Cooper walked briskly, trying to suppress his anger. In the blink of an eye, he had arrived at the rooftop garden on the second floor, but it was already empty.
It was as if he had imagined that scene earlier, but the subtle familiar scent still lingered in the air.
He had rushed there fast enough, but she was still one step ahead of him.
When Cooper exited the banquet hall, Jerry noticed that his expression was scarily dark. “The guy that had his arm around her seemed to be Zeno.”
