Afraid that Leila might refuse, Genevieve added, “My husband has gone to work, and I'll be eating alone at home anyway. Having dinner with you would give us a chance to chat.”

“You're older than me, and you're the fourth in the Faulkner family, so it would be impolite not to call you Mando.” The woman glanced at Genevieve and then laughed with understanding.

She said, “Is it because you're afraid Mrs. Faulkner will be jealous?”
