Chapter 1360 Family And Love
Sebastian was scolding Jerry when a man with a cellphone in hand walked into the living room.
Sebastian took the phone and put it to his ear.
The other person didn't know what to say, which made his expression soften quite a bit. He spoke gently, “I didn't scold him, I just chatted with him for a bit, and I'll be back soon.”
After hanging up the phone, he didn't even glance at Jerry and strode away.
Only when the footsteps behind him had faded away did Jerry let out a cold laugh and stand up from the ground. Casually wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with his thumb, he too left the living room.
Outside, Jesse was waiting.
It was him who picked up Jerry from the airport and brought him to the mansion. Afterward, he stood by the door, listening to the conversation between the two people inside.
Jesse followed closely behind Jerry, remaining silent as they walked out of the mansion.
Both of them got into the car, with Jesse taking the wheel.
After leaving the grounds of the mansion, Jesse glanced at the man in the passenger seat. His cheek was swollen and there were traces of dried blood at the corner of his mouth, showing how hard Sebastian had hit him.
Jesse bit down on his cigarette, speaking out of turn, “You really shouldn't have done that. Armand never planned to let the Gaudette family off the hook.”
Before Harry passed away, he entrusted everything to Lucian. Now, it was Jesse's turn to protect Lucian.
Although Lucian was quite talented in the field of computers, he was only five or six years old. Because of Harry's situation, he guessed that Armand and his wife probably wouldn't be fond of him either.
In the end, he stayed by Jerry's side.
The matter of Mr. Gaudette's unexpected death was handled by Jesse.
Jesse saw Jerry leaning against the window, silent as ever, and let out a deep sigh. “Children from families like yours should be ruthless and cold-hearted. Love and affection are the greatest shackles.”
Harry's example is right there.
He's incredibly smart, you know. He taught himself computers at the age of ten. His abilities are truly terrifying – with just a few taps on the keyboard, he can throw the entire world into chaos.
If he had focused on his career, everything would have been within his reach, but his childhood was just too unfortunate.
The shadows of his childhood haunted Harry's mind, leaving him fearful and yearning for the warmth of family. He desperately sought someone to care for him, even if it meant resorting to destructive actions.
In the end, bound by love, the genius youth met his demise.
Jesse had many informants, and later on, people around Jerry also shared intelligence with him. How could Jerry not know why he wanted to kill Benedict?
Jerry's face showed no expression, it was unclear whether he had taken in the words or not.
Jerry never intended to stay long in Xedells, planning to return after getting beaten up. However, a nurse at the hospital answered a phone call, saying that Albert wanted to see him.
He had no choice but to have Jesse turn around and go to a private hospital.
Jerry asked Jesse to wait in the car while he took the elevator upstairs. He walked to a VIP hospital room, turned the handle, and entered.
The hospital room was a single, clean and spacious, with a faint scent of disinfectant.
The man in the sickbed seemed to have weak breathing, with a respirator attached to his nose. When Jerry entered, a glimmer of light ignited in his pale eyes.
Jerry walked over and pulled out a chair to sit down, gazing at the man lying in the hospital bed. “How have you been lately?”
“It's not like that.” Albert's voice was weak, as if speaking took all the strength in his body. He looked at Jerry's swollen cheeks, and a hint of heartache welled up in his eyes.
Albert asked, “Did he hit you again?”
Before Jerry came to the ward, he had already sought help from the nurse to deal with the issue. However, it would take several hours for the red and swollen area to subside.
Seeing Jerry remain silent, Albert paused for a moment before saying, “Jerry, I don't like lying in bed like this, day after day, and my body is in so much pain.”
He turned his head to look at Jerry, pleading, “Can you please let me go?”
