“Mrs. Warner, please understand. You and I are both mothers. As mothers, we are willing to sacrifice our own lives for the well-being of our children. If… If you truly believe in a life for a life, then take mine. I beg you, spare my son,” Jessica pleaded with an anguished expression on her well-maintained face. Her hands were clasped together in a humble plea to Esther. “Mrs. Warner, I can fully comprehend your feelings and empathize with your anger. But please… Please consider this for a moment. Ever since I became pregnant with him, I’ve aspired to be a good mother. I have raised my son well, and he has excelled in his endeavors. Esther looked at Jessica, a fellow mother, but turned her head away, unable to bear the situation. She knew deep down that the woman before her was innocent, but… wasn’t her own son, Felix, innocent too? 

A cool sea breeze gently tousled Esther’s long hair as she covered her mouth and coughed softly.

Jessica slowly stood up and walked toward Shane, raising her hand and delivering a fierce slap across his face. “Shane Hoyer, let’s get a divorce!” 

Shane looked at Jessica in astonishment, but she remained unfazed and coldly declared, “I don’t want my son to have a father like you.” 

Shane sensed something amiss, but before he could fully grasp the situation, he saw Jessica turn around and sprint to the deck. 

Bradley, Esther, Kevin, Clark, and others tried to stop her, but they were a step too late. 

With the unwavering determination to exchange one life for another, Jessica jumped into the sea, creating a tremendous splash. 

The slightly salty seawater splashed on Ben’s face, still carrying a hint of innocence as he struggled in the air, consumed by fear and panic.
