“Esther, be good. Don’t force me! Understand?”
Liliane’s physical condition was extremely poor. Even Scott, a renowned cardiac surgeon, knew that each day Liliane managed to survive was like snatching luck from the clutches of the Grim Reaper.
Uncertainty crept into Billy’s mind when he saw the photo of Liliane standing with Shane, despite his insistence that Liliane was his daughter.
A nurse, holding a lab report, approached Billy and said, “Bed 48, your test results are here.”
Taking the lab report, Billy struggled to understand the meaning behind the numbers. Before the nurse left, he quickly asked, “Miss, why did I have diarrhea?”
The nurse looked puzzled and replied, “Didn’t you take the laxatives yourself? Even if you were constipated, you shouldn’t take random medication!”
Billy clutched the lab report, a sudden realization striking him as he recalled the glass of milk Leah had brought him that morning.
At that time, he had been immersed in the joy of Liliane’s wedding and had failed to notice Leah’s subtle actions.
‘Why did Leah do that?
‘Was it because she didn’t want me to attend the wedding, so she gave me diarrhea?
‘Did she intentionally sabotage me to make way for Shane?’
Fury burned within Billy’s heart, prompting him to contact a lawyer and confront Leah.
When Leah heard someone had come to see her, she assumed it was Shane. In an effort to maintain a favorable image in front of him, she purposely made herself look slightly pitiful.
She harbored no fear regarding the incident. Even if she ended up in prison, Shane would take care of everything. It would only be a temporary change of residence, with the loss of freedom as the sole difference.
Billy sat in the meeting room, his gaze fixed on the entrance. He didn’t miss the fleeting disappointment in Leah’s eyes.
“Leah, were you disappointed when you saw me instead of Shane?” Billy asked, his tone sharp.
Leah was caught completely off guard by Billy’s question. She defensively raised her voice. What nonsense are you talking about!?”
“Someone informed me that Liliane is Shane’s daughter.” Billy’s eyes glinted with venomous intensity. “Tell me, should I believe it?”
Leah was rendered speechless by Billy’s revelation. Without a trace of guilt, she questioned,
