Chapter 39
Despite that, Liliane, who “loved her son too much”, stopped Bradley. With tears in her eyes, she begged him sorrowfully, “Brad, please, let me go in first. If it doesn’t work, then you can come in. I beg you.”
Bradley stood tall. His beautiful eyes simmered with enormous energy akin to a volcanic eruption.” You have three minutes,” he said for the last time. “If you don’t come out after three minutes, I’ll break in.”
“Okay.” Liliane turned to the nurse and asked, “Where’s the key?”
“This is a special ward,” the nurse replied. “Unless the door is opened from the inside, it cannot be opened from the outside.”
Liliane took a deep breath and said, “Esther, open the door.”
Esther walked to the door and gently opened it.
Liliane was worried that Bradley would mess things up, so she quickly slipped into the ward.
“Lock the door,” said Esther.
Liliane leisurely locked the door.
Her
gaze fell on Felix, who was lying on the hospital bed. He still had an oxygen tube in his nose, and the instrument’s screen displayed his heart rate.
What a pity! Esther had not made a move on him!
If Esther had killed Felix with her own hands before Liliane told her the boy’s true identity, Liliane reckoned… Esther would go insane!
“Esther, I’m here.” Liliane slowly moved to the foot of the bed, facing away from the camera, and looked at Esther with a fierce gaze. “Why are you threatening me openly with Felix? What do you want me to do?”
Esther’s arm holding the lighter trembled slightly. She looked up at the camera on the ceiling and asked bitterly, “Liliane, you were the one who personally disconnected Grandpa Thomas’ oxygen mask five years ago. Why did you try to frame me?”
A cold sneer appeared on Liliane’s face.
‘Oh, Esther, Esther…
‘Why are you still so naive?
“Do you think Bradley would believe you in this situation?
‘He would never!
‘Even if I admitted it, he wouldn’t believe it. He’d only think I was doing it out of desperation.’
“Esther, you can say whatever you want. I only ask that you don’t hurt my son.”
Liliane suppressed her laughter with her head lowered. Because she was facing away from the
camera, it appeared to Bradley, Cole, and the others watching the surveillance footage that she was crying out of fear.
“Liliane, do you know that you and Bradley are the people I hate the most in this world?”
