Chapter 416
“Let’s do it.”
Although Esther had already conducted two DNA tests with Pixie, she still refused to believe that Pixie was not her daughter. She wanted to conduct the final DNA test.
“Esther, have you thought about it? If Pixie is not your biological daughter, what will you do?”
Esther’s gaze remained unwavering. “Anna, if Pixie is not my biological daughter, I will confront Bradley and demand to know where he has hidden my real daughter!”
Anna patted Esther’s shoulder, comforting her in a soft voice. “Perhaps Pixie is really your daughter.”
A nurse arrived to take fresh blood samples from Pixie and Esther for the DNA test. Since Pixie was a key figure in the case and still under the effects of anesthesia, she had to remain in the hospital ward for now.
Esther felt overwhelming concern for Felix and Sunshine, worried they might be terrified by today’s events. She decided to temporarily entrust Pixie to Anna and prepared to visit Felix and Sunshine.
As Esther stepped out of the ward, she spotted Jacob leading Felix and Sunshine toward her.
“Mommy!” they called out.
With a wide smile, Esther opened her arms to embrace Felix and Sunshine as they ran into her loving embrace.
“My darlings, were you scared?” Esther asked.
Felix and Sunshine shook their heads simultaneously. “No, we were super brave.”
Jacob walked behind Sunshine, ruffled her hair, and remarked indifferently, “Who was it that cried when they heard the gunshot?”
Sunshine quickly denied it. “It definitely wasn’t me. It was Felix.”
Felix’s red eyes and tightly clasped arm around Esther’s showed he was scared and distressed. He said in a slightly wronged tone, “Mommy, I was scared, and I cried!”
Esther lovingly stroked their foreheads, comforting them. “It’s okay, my darlings. Mommy is fine. Would you like to go see Pixie now?”
“Yes!” Sunshine and Felix responded in unison.
Esther led them into the ward, one on each side.
“Sunshine, Felix, you’re here!”
After Sunshine and Felix greeted Anna, they approached Pixie’s bedside.
Sunshine tiptoed to get a better look at Pixie, then turned to Felix and asked in her sweet voice, “Mommy, is Pixie really Felix’s sister? They don’t look alike…”
Anna was concerned that Sunshine’s words might touch Esther’s sore spot, so she gently explained, “Sunshine, not all twins look the same. You and Twinkle are identical twins, so you
look exactly alike. But Felix and Pixie are fraternal twins, which is why they don’t look alike.”
“Oh, I see!”
