Chapter 428
Esther’s mind replayed past moments like scenes from a movie. Bradley’s previous actions hinted that he might not care about Tinkerbell’s life and death because he was aware she was not his child. Yet, this raised questions about their earlier DNA test. Could Bradley have manipulated the test to hurt her as revenge?
“Esther,” Anna called out. “I got you a sandwich. Have this first.”
Anna had entrusted Sunshine and Felix to Jacob’s care as they were having a good time at the Sandersons’. She came to support Esther because the DNA test results were almost ready.
Esther took the sandwich from Anna, looking at her with sorrowful eyes. “Anna, Pixie is my daughter, right?” she asked in agony.
Anna took a thermos of coffee from her bag and reassured Esther, “Yes, Pixie is your daughter, without a doubt.”
“But she doesn’t want me.” Esther took a bite of the sandwich and said worryingly, “She doesn’t want me! She said I’m a bad person!”
Anna did not know how to comfort Esther and could only tell her gently, “Have something to eat first. The new DNA test results will be out soon.”
“Mm.” Esther was in the worst mood, unable to enjoy the sandwich. She could only chew mechanically.
Anna was unsure how to console her. Certain challenges needed assistance from others, while others had to be faced alone.
While waiting for the test results, a stylishly dressed woman approached Pixie’s room. A well- dressed young girl accompanied her.
Esther had a feeling about their identity, yet she held onto hope and inquired, “Who are you?”
Susan Wrath glanced at Esther with arrogance, her eyes carrying a cold, threatening look. If not for Esther, her daughter, Maria, would be better now. To Susan, Esther seemed determined to shatter their family’s happiness.
“I’m Pixie’s mom, Susan Wrath, madam.”
Esther couldn’t help but say, “I’m Pixie’s biological mother!”
Susan turned to her daughter and said gently, “Sweetie, go and play with Pixie.”
When Maria entered Pixie’s room, Susan stared at Esther with arrogance. “Ms. Quill, I’ve seen the previous DNA tests. They say you’re not Pixie’s real mother. Why expect a different outcome now?
“Plus, the doctor told me Pixie misses us! If she finds out you got her father in trouble with the police, how do you think she’ll treat you?”
“You adopted Pixie with ulterior motives…”
Susan smirked at Esther, her eyes cold. “Ms. Quill, I hope you treat your child right.”
