Chapter 441
Steffan’s dark blue eyes flickered with a hint of mockery. He subtly lifted his proud chin and replied in a cold tone, “Certainly.”
“Good,” Xara responded, her voice hoarse. She then looked toward the bathroom door in the study. “Shall we move to the bathroom?”
“We shall.”
Xara entered the bathroom first. She turned on the faucet and washed her hands meticulously. Her mind flooded with memories of everything that had happened in that bathroom. She took a deep breath and splashed cold water on her face to calm herself.
Then she called to Steffan, who was sitting on the sofa, “I’m ready. You can come in now.”
Steffan stood up gracefully and walked slowly into the bathroom. Xara felt incredibly awkward as she reached out to close the door behind him. Once the door was shut, she turned to Steffan and asked in surprise, “You’re just going to stand there?”
“Or what!?” Steffan retorted.
Xara had no reply. She truly came across a real piece of work. ‘I’ll endure this,’ she thought.
Xara knelt before Steffan and began to unbuckle his belt. She felt embarrassed by her posture.
Steffan crossed his arms and looked down at her with a gloomy expression.
Xara looked up at him, her voice frustrated. “Steffan, give me a reaction.’
“Xara, don’t push your luck.”
“You’re the one who…”
Steffan snorted.
Their voices echoed in the bathroom.
Jacob noticed that Xara had not come out of the study. He walked to the door and gently knocked. “It’s time for dinner.”
Xara blushed as Jacob’s voice reached her ears through the bathroom door. She shot Steffan a glance but didn’t say anything. She turned on the faucet to wash her hands, then left the bathroom, leaving Steffan behind.
Steffan watched her go, his teeth gnashed in frustration. He kicked the bathroom door in
anger.
Xara opened the door to the study. “Jacob, you guys can start eating. I want to change my clothes first.”
Seeing that Xara was unharmed and not bullied, Jacob sighed with relief.
“As you wish,” he said and turned away, heading to find Sunshine and Felix.
Xara clutched her sore wrist as she watched Jacob walk away. She had failed as a mother. Steffan wasn’t willing to try in vitro fertilization. Did she have only one option left? To have
