Chapter 473
Agatha served Esther a bowl of soup and placed it before her. “Eat slowly, have some soup.”
“Okay,” Esther replied, her tone carrying a hint of melancholy.
Agatha did not say anything further, simply eating her own meal beside Esther.
Her recent surgery should not mislead one. Despite her age, enduring lengthy hours in the operating room demanded considerable stamina. Thus, Agatha approached her three daily meals with a significant degree of seriousness, understanding that the path to a better future necessitated consistent nourishment.
“Esther, you should take a nap.”
Esther’s eyes glistened with tears as she replied, “I can’t sleep.” Her heart remained restless, the constant longing to see Felix keeping her mind in turmoil.
Agatha produced a golden needle and administered an acupuncture treatment to Esther. In an instant, Esther’s eyes closed.
As a doctor, saving lives held more significance for her than anything else. A mere few seconds ‘difference could often pull someone back from the edge of death. Thus, Agatha never squandered her energy as it was more precious than most.
She helped Esther lie down on the bed, covering her with a blanket. Then, she settled onto the sofa to review the medical records she held.
Five years ago, she was wrongly accused and sent to prison. Inside, some inmates followed. orders and tried to intimidate her, an older woman. Life was really a mix of highs and lows.
Despite losing everything, Esther remained determined to save Agatha’s life multiple times. Although Agatha could have managed on her own, it was Esther’s actions that caught Agatha’s
attention.
In the world of medicine, challenges were appealing, and Agatha felt the same. This common ground brought them together beyond their age difference. As Agatha learned about Esther’s experiences, her care for Esther grew, making them close friends and confidantes.
Through Agatha’s treatment, Esther moved past the pain of losing her children, gaining confidence in a new life. While treating Esther, Agatha healed her and shared her knowledge. This was when Agatha discovered Esther’s hidden intelligence behind her innocent appearance. After Esther left prison, Agatha encouraged her to visit Capitus.
However, Agatha got busy settling scores with her foes after her release, temporarily
forgetting Esther. When she sent someone to check on Esther at the prison, she found out Esther was already free.
Seeing Esther’s current behavior, Agatha felt a headache and rubbed her temples. She opened the door slowly.
“Dr. Foster, how is Esther?” Oliver inquired.
“Let’s discuss this somewhere more private.”
Jasper directed the bodyguards to ensure Esther’s safety, preventing anyone from approaching her. Agatha, Jasper, and Oliver settled in the rest area to continue their
conversation.
“Depression, are you familiar with it?”
