Chapter 519
Felix heard Kevin’s voice and asked childishly, “Uncle Kevin, what did you just say? I didn’t hear it clearly.”
Kevin did not anticipate that Felix would answer Esther’s call. “Felix, can you give the phone to Mommy?” Felix patted his chest and replied cutely, “Uncle Kevin, you can talk to me. Mommy’s not feeling well…” Kevin asked with concern, “What’s wrong with your mom?”
“My mommy’s throwing up. Poor Mommy…”
From the bathroom, Esther heard Felix talking on the phone. Despite her discomfort, she walked out of the bathroom.
“Uncle Kevin, Mommy’s here.”
After taking a deep breath, she took the phone from Felix and asked, “What’s the matter?”
“Esther, Felix said you were throwing up? Are you okay? Are you feeling unwell?”
Esther was afraid that Kevin might guess she was pregnant and was convinced he would definitely inform Bradley. She could not let Bradley know about her pregnancy for now.
“Just feeling a bit sick after arriving at Capitus since I haven’t adapted fully to the new environment,” Esther said, walking out to the balcony and letting the cold breeze hit her.
The chilly wind flowed in, reaching Esther’s lungs. Her stomach discomfort gradually subsided. “Why did you call?”
After pondering for a moment, Kevin decided to be honest. “Esther, Bradley coughed up blood and fainted!”
“Kevin, are you helping him with this play?” Esther’s voice carried a mocking tone.
“Esther, I’m being honest.” Esther’s attitude took Kevin aback. “I’m a doctor. I wouldn’t joke about this. Bradley is genuinely unwell.”
“What does that have to do with me?” Esther’s attitude remained indifferent. Her expression showed no change as if Bradley were a complete stranger.
“Maybe Bradley’s condition is quite serious this time.” Kevin advised gently, “If he wakes up and sees Felix, it might help his recovery.”
“Nice try, Kevin!” Esther sneered. “Bradley’s using this act of suffering to gain custody of Felix through an appeal. Does he think I still love him that much? Or that I’ll change my mind? Kevin, tell him it won’t work on me…”
“Esther, I don’t know about any appeal, but Bradley is genuinely ill…” Kevin explained matter-of-factly.
Esther’s tone remained cold. “Don’t contact me until he’s gone. I’ll bring Felix to lay flowers at his grave if he passes away.” After saying that, Esther hung up abruptly.
