Chapter 522
After confirming Felix’s wrist information and checking the IV bottle, the nurse began the IV infusion. When it was done, she changed Felix’s head bandage.
Esther and Felix sat together, engrossed in their reading. Esther read a medical book while Felix tackled an introductory calculus book. They stuck to a timer-reading for an hour and then resting for 20 minutes.
Esther’s blood test results were also ready when Felix’s infusion finished.
Agatha entered with a solemn expression, handing Esther a test report.
Esther asked, “Grandma Foster, what does this mean?”
“Show me Jasper’s report.”
Agatha headed to the balcony after speaking. Esther retrieved Jasper’s test results and handed them to Agatha, who then compared the HCG values.
“Esther, this test result isn’t positive. Your HCG levels have doubled. The data is concerning, and you’re still anemic. Brace yourself mentally.”
Agatha’s words struck Esther deeply.
“Grandma Foster, I… I…”
Though the child’s arrival wasn’t in Esther’s plans, she was resolved to keep it. But she never imagined that the child might not develop normally.
“First, let’s do an ultrasound.”
“Sure, when should I schedule it? Now?”
Tears welled in Esther’s reddened eyes.
Agatha comforted her with a gentle pat on the shoulder. “Esther, pregnancy is nature’s process of selection. If you’re committed to doing everything to carry this child, I’ll do my best to support you. Don’t overthink it for now. Let’s go. I’ll take you for an ultrasound.”
“Alright.”
Worried that Felix might sense her turmoil, Esther tilted her head slightly upward, holding back her tears. She took a deep breath, composed herself, and left Felix in the care of the bodyguards. She then accompanied Agatha to the hospital’s ultrasound room.
Since Esther’s pregnancy was in the early stages, she needed to drink water before the ultrasound. She finally entered after downing four bottles of mineral water outside the ultrasound room.
As soon as Agatha entered the ultrasound room, the doctor respectfully stood up and greeted her.
“I’ll handle it.”
Esther lay on the bed beside the ultrasound machine, closing her eyes. She fervently wished for her baby’s healthy arrival.
“Dr. Foster, here you go.”
