Oliver’s expression slightly tensed, and a dark glint flickered in his cold eyes. He instinctively sat up straight, maintaining an elegant and composed demeanor. “Are you sure, Jasper?” 

Jasper contemplated before slowly voicing his conjecture. “Mr. Quill, this is what I think. Everyone knows that the head of the Pendletons despises drugs, but often, the reality is quite the opposite. 

“Although I haven’t had much contact with Chadwick, from my limited understanding, I believe the Pendletons may be involved in drug activities. Whether this is true or not, it requires further investigation.” 

“I understand what you mean. I’ll have this investigated.” Oliver’s gaze was deep. 

As everyone knew, the drug trade was an extremely profitable industry. Some people, driven by drugs, were willing to risk everything, including their families’ fates. 

Many things appeared illogical in this ongoing confrontation between the Quills and Pendletons. Despite the Quills and Fosters teaming up and the Lockwoods staying out of it, the smaller families attached to the Pendletons should carefully reconsider their stances. However, they seemed oddly united. 

Jasper’s words had enlightened Oliver. 

If the Pendletons were publicly fighting against drugs but secretly involved in drug trafficking, all these inconsistencies would make sense. 

“Mr. Quill, what I said may not necessarily be true. I just…” Jasper hesitated and became somewhat nervous since Oliver took his opinion so seriously. 

Oliver chuckled and reassured him, “Jasper, you don’t need to be so cautious. Your train of thought has actually provided me with some clarity.” 

“Uncle Oliver, what if the Pendletons really…” Esther began, but her voice trailed off anxiously. 

Oliver’s expression remained firm, exuding a righteous air. “I have zero tolerance for drugs and won’t tolerate the Pendletons either.” 

“Mr. Quill, Chadwick is threatening Esther to marry him,” Jasper said with a slight frown. 

After a brief hesitation, he suggested another idea, “I think Chadwick’s sister, Mandy, might be a potential breakthrough.” 

“You’re correct.” Oliver had long been aware of the existence of Mandy. 

The head of the Pendletons could not openly acknowledge her because his lawful wife had significant influence, and the Pendleton’s success was largely due to the support of her family. 

This was why Mandy was kept in the shadows and listened to Chadwick. 

“Mr. Quill, if you trust Esther and me, we’d like to approach Mandy and try to win her over to our side. If successful, we can have an insider.” 

Oliver pondered for a moment before replying, “Alright.” 

Seeing his goal had been achieved, Jasper did not continue to disturb Oliver in his work. “Mr. Quill, we’ll take our leave now.”
