Chapter 606
“Daddy, do you want oranges?” Felix peeled a small orange and approached Bradley. He noticed the crystal casket on Bradley’s tablet and curiously asked, “Daddy, what’s this?”
“Artwork.”
Felix asked innocently, “Daddy, why are you buying this kind of artwork?”
“It’s for your mommy.”
Felix was quiet.
“Keep it a secret for Daddy,” Bradley said.
Although Felix did not know the purpose of the crystal casket, he earnestly nodded upon hearing Bradley’s words. “Alright!”
Esther watched Bradley and Felix whispering to each other and asked, “What are you guys talking about?”
Felix quickly replied, “Mommy, it’s a secret between us men.”
Esther was rendered speechless.
Clark brought Felix’s belongings to the hospital, where Felix, Esther, and Bradley were going to spend the night together in one room.
After a bath and a specially prepared children’s meal, Felix relished the rare joy of sleeping between his parents.
Even though Felix was smart and talented, he had outgrown children’s picture books. Esther read short stories, and Felix and Bradley listened closely.
Esther’s voice echoed harmoniously in the quiet hospital room. Bradley observed Esther reading and then glanced at Felix. His heart brimmed with love.
Excited to sleep between his parents, Felix couldn’t help but gaze around the room.
Esther exchanged gentle looks with Felix and then with Bradley. She wished time would freeze at this perfect moment.
As Felix gradually fell asleep, Esther and Bradley watched him with their chins resting on their hands.
Esther tenderly traced Felix’s eyebrows and sighed. “Bradley, our Felix takes after you so much, exuding
charisma.”
That was why Esther had never considered the possibility of Felix being her biological child when Bradley asked her to donate bone marrow to him. Felix simply resembled Bradley too closely.
“Who else would he resemble if not me?” Bradley said with pride.
Esther’s heart grew heavy as she thought of her missing daughter. She asked indirectly, “I wonder if our daughter resembles me or you more.”
“Definitely me!” Bradley replied without hesitation.
Esther was taken aback, her eyes filling with tears. She questioned with uncertainty, “Really? Does she really look like you?”
Bradley looked at Esther, his gaze unwavering, as she continued talking as if unaware of his stare.
People say girls who resemble their father are fortunate. Our daughter must be very lucky.”
